I'm actually quite surprised Gozu hasn't gotten a Blu-ray at this point. It has a pretty good cult following and is a pretty nutty film. I watched this in theaters over 10 years ago and remember the film started with about 15 people and by the end there were only 3 people left.

I wish somebody would release the Tokyo Mafia or the Neo Chinpira films on BD. Any old films by Gakuryű Ishii would be nice too.

Damn, just missed THE STUFF from their added titles in the Halloween sale on the UK site. I'm guessing most other people jumped on that for 5 GBPs as well, since, last I checked the OOP US release is fetching a hefty chunk of change.

(EDIT, NVM. I must have missed the re-issue announcement on that one, since Diabolik and Amazon have it for 28 bucks on pre-order)

There are a couple posts in the UK thread that say that Arrow is going to do theatrical screenings of the Jodorowsky titles in January and February. So I doubt that they'll get released on disc in January or February.

The Zavvi store says it has a two for one deal on Arrow Blu-rays, but I can't figure out how to get the discount. Does anyone here know about this and how to get the deal to work? Contacting Zavvi doesn't help as they only spam me with automated messages that tell me to wait for them to look into this and they will get back to me. Is this deal still good?

You are on the US Zavvi site, the sale I belive is just for the UK site, so you need to go to www .zavvi, not us.zavvi

The US Zavvi site also says Buy One Get One. I'm assuming the discount is applied at checkout.

Granted, I'm not sure what Zavvi US's shipping is like, cost wise, but SOME of the titles on their site seem to be selling for a few bucks more than it would be to buy them through Arrow UK's direct BOGO sale. So, might be a bit cheaper to go through them, depending on what you want??

I see that link does take you to a sale, but if the discount isn't showing in the cart, I wouldn't chance it. Once you place the order, it will probably be too late to cancel on in stock item if they don't grant the discount.

My suggestion for ordering from the US site is to add one of the cheapest steelbooks you can find on there and get free shipping on the entire order. For an extra $2, at least you have a steelbook to sell or trade or give away. Shipping is the same packaging as if ordering from the UK site, all comes from the same place.

Thanks for the help guys. Very strange that Zavvi doesn't seem to even know about their own promotions. I'll take a look at the BOGO sale as an alternative.

Is the BOGO sale limited to 10 selections?

It looks like Lakeshore just got acquired by another company. I wonder what that might mean (if it means anything) for any deals Arrow has for those films, especially given the rereleases of CHUD and Creepshow 2.

Whatever deals are currently in place at Arrow, Scorpion and Kino should be safe but who knows what the future holds for the catalog. Looks like Vine, the new owners, are looking for content for some streaming venture so this could spell the end of the line for physical media deals with boutique labels. I don't care anymore as long as we get Philadelphia E experiment from someone before it all goes away

Wish Arrow would get the rights to Bloody Pit of Horror and do something special with it

That would be an instant purchase for me! The more 60s Italian horror on Blu-ray, the better!

Don't know who it's with (although Paramount is mentioned on it's IMDb company credits page), but a film which I think would make a very good Arrow release would be Blood and Roses (starring Mel Ferrer).

Dang I wanted to post that Amazon UK had the Macabre Visions boxset available on backorder but it went quick, at least from when I noticed. Put an order in though, showed as 61.52 gbp in cart and final total was $86.66 shipped to the U.S after conversion fees, shipping etc.

Zavvi had a reload in stock for a few days though priced at 80 gbp, so hopeuflly it might be popping up from time to time, just gotta be vigilant. Shame that such a cool boxset is this elusive.

Bloody Pit of Horror is public domain in the USA. Something Weird has a print and was selling copies, but they dont have any rights to it, even though they say it's a Something Weird Special Edition back when they were selling it on VHS. It may mean they tried to alter the film to copyright it, but there has been at least one court case where the verdict was that altering a public domain film does not allow the film to be given a new copyright. They could put copyrighted music over something like Fred Olen Ray did in Shriek of the Mutilated, but the music is the only thing that has a copyright.
If one were to find the negatives, if they still exist, Italy would be where to look. SWV just has a theatrical print that is somewhat worn. I got a better DVD version from Germany or Italy.
It's quite a fun film for those who haven't seen it.

I posted a list of some neglected Japanese horror titles in the Arrow UK section. Some great stuff that needs to be seen. I have about half of the list with subtitles but not good quality.

I almost can't even picture what a restored Bloody Pit of Horror would look/sound like. Every versions I've owned has been absolutely horrendous public domain garbage.
