Wow...they really sound kinda clueless. I feel bad for the filmmakers.

I asked on FB if there was any chance of DER SAMURAI and HORSEHEAD having actual pressed runs. Their response...

Quote:
Possibly, but not in the near future, we have so many other releases on the slate...we assure you though that future Blus will be replicated, it's what the customers want! SAMURAI and HORSEHEAD duplicated Blu-rays are almost sold out by the way if anyone still wants to grab one.

So what happens when the duplicated versions sell out? They'll just go OOP?

The Treatment is an interesting film. I saw it last year after reading some of the reviews about how graphic it is.

Yeah, best to get it now and live with it until such time as they decide to do the right thing and press the films.

Still sucks though.

If true, it should be good news that they're already almost out of stock since they won't have to eat the costs on too many burned discs. Press real discs now, replace the few copies for those of us who really care, and then have the rest of the pressed discs for future sales (since do they really want to be oop on these already?).

Real bad taste in my mouth if these are just bd-r forever...

They've said their releases will be pressed BD-ROMs going forward, specifically mentioning The Cub. I thought there was another one coming sooner, and there is - The Treatment. And their website has already been updated with the warning that The Treatment will be a burned BD-R too. Greaaaat.

Well at least for The Treatment, there is an English-friendly BD coming to the UK in September. And I did a little search for the other two, and there is a very nice uncut BD of Horsehead in Germany - the mediabook version even has 4 short films from the same director, something the Artsploitation BD does not seem to have.

That just leaves Der Samurai...

Der Samurai is a little strange, it goes after a very specific niche market. It's not really a slasher or werewolf film, which it is getting marketed as for home video.

The best film from this label for horror fans is The House With 100 Eyes, which isn't getting a Blu-ray release. That one is only hitting DVD, which was pressed if one was wondering. Not that the video really needs 1080P resolution, it was shot on Canon 7D cameras. The movie itself is one of the best independent horror movies I've seen in recent years. It has a really nasty streak to it with a lot of dark humor.

Der Samurai was honestly the worst film I've seen in a long, long time. I'm probably going to return my copy to Amazon as defective since I didn't know I was buying a BD-R.

I haven't had any problems with the BD-Rs I've received from this label. The BD-Rs include silkscreened labels with graphics, so they don't look like someone made them in their basement or anything.

I am kinda bummed out about Cub. I really liked that. If it's the only option, I'll be getting it.
Any word on the features for Cub?

They said Cub will be a real pressed BD. The only BD-Rs, assuming they stick to their word, will be Der Samurai, Horsehead, and The Treatment.

Cub.....This would be a complete blind buy. I've never heard of it, I love the cover, and the story is right up my alley. Does it come highly recommended? Also, is this a foreign flick with english subtitles? Thanks for any opinions.

It's a Belgian film, English subs.

It isn't spectacular or anything, but it's a solid horror flick that I'll be buying.

Not ground breaking in any real way, but a solid slasher in the woods. The ante is upped as a lot of the victims are younger.
I'd recommend it if that's your cup of tea
