This A/V Pre-Amp has been out a while and no "official" thread? Hopefully it's because everyone here that has one hasn't had any issues! I replaced my trusty h/k AVR3600 that wasn't able to keep up with the times. So here I am with my first Marantz since my strictly 2 channel days, I think they're called vintage now? I've had my 7703 about a week now and its been simply amazing from set up to use ....

I was a bit miffed that was no "Manual", but at 342 pages I can understand downloading from the website now. Set up was a breeze from start to finish, are we ever really finished?

You'll find the set up menus guide you through the set up covering all the important settings and I was able to find more settings just from using the intuitive remote to open other options.

This unit has been drastically reduced to $1499 and it was the one I have been looking at for my HT upgrade. Just wondering if any owners have good or bad things to say about it. It's perfect for my needs and has all the upgrades that are out there right now. Got an itchy trigger finger. Thanks for any info you can pass on.

I have the 7702 and it's a great unit. The AV7704 is offering much more control over Audyssey XT-32 than my unit. I'm not sure if you can download the app for the new Audyssey features for the 7703. If not, or you don't feel you need the extra control, the 7703 is a great buy right now.

I've had mine for 5 months now, and never a problem. the 7704 is supposed to offer better DAC's and enabled HEOS. Other than that basically the same unit.

Dolby Vision will be in a future firmware update, the 2016 Denon models have already started receiving this update ... Buy with confidence!

We're setting up Marantz's new AV7704 feeding two MM8077 amps at the New York Audio Show November 12-14, 2017. I hope to also get the new SR8012 receiver.

For our 2-channel demo we're using Marantz’s new PM10 Reference integrated amplifier, the SA10 Reference SACD player, and TT-15S1 turntable driving two Def tech ST-L Super Towers.

Just bought this baby and was wondering if anyone has any general tips about it. Will be used 95% for movies in my HT (added Oppo 203, Roku Ultra and getting ready to purchase the LG 77G7P as my new display), streaming the occasional on demand film and some cable viewing. Glad to hear that set-up is easy but just wanted to check if there were any tricky parts etc. Appreciate any info.

Did a quick search here but didn't find any answers about how this unit upscale a 1080p signal. I run my cable and Oppo 983 DVD player through a DVDO Edge and was wondering if the PQ would be better if I just run them directly into the 7703.

Conventional thinking would suggest connecting the 983 and cable box directly to the 7703. The 7703 has a newer processing chip (2.0 HDMI), not to mention that it would be a more efficient configuration. However, the DVDO Edge is a very nice device and it has the Anchor Bay processor but it's 1.3 HDMI. Are you currently connecting the Edge straight to the TV or did you have the Edge routed thru your Processor?

I had a similar configuration where I routed all of my devices thru my DVDO Quick 6 Matrix switcher. I recently acquired a Marantz AV7702 MkII. I no longer use the DVDO switcher. The 7702 MKII accommodates all of my devices and it's a much more efficient config.

Personally, I would try it both ways and see which one provides the better result.

I find the 7703 makes overly compressed cable channels look a little better, garbage in from the cable company, slightly better out from the Marantz.

But it sure makes everything else look great!

Thanks for the reply and info. Right now I have my 983 connected directly to my processor and only my cable box and Roku 3 running through the Edge then to the processor. I like your idea of just running it all through the Marantz for that more efficient config. It would be much simpler since I am going 4K and am adding the Oppo 203, a Roku Ultra and getting ready to pick up an LG 77 G7P and wondered about how well the Marantz handled 1080p sources. Figured I'd ask opinions first before jumping into a bunch of tests since I may not notice subtles differences in PQ. Like you maybe I will “retire” or sell the Edge or move it to my living room setup. Thanks for your help.

Thanks, this is what I was curious about. I'm in the process of setting up and if you have any tips or suggestions about how to use the 7703 please let me know. I am slowly making my way through the manual.

Thanks, this is what I was curious about. I'm in the process of setting up and if you have any tips or suggestions about how to use the 7703 please let me know. I am slowly making my way through the manual.

I hate to be cavalier about the setup, but ... just connect your sources to the appropriate input on the rear and you'll be good to "Start with" .. then comes the fun running Audyssey for your speaker set up and going into each individual input setting to select "your" preferences .. then basically ... Enjoy!

P.S. - I'm still constantly tweaking ....

Thanks. I did enloy setting up my Onkyo even though it was the first time doing something like that but did take my time to get it done right. And even though I knew that part was coming again with the Marantz and the idea of “starting” all over again was the major part of upgrading to 4K, I wish that I could just snap my fingers and be done with it and enjoy the new set up. What usually happens to me is that one snag will hit where I've missed some connection or clicked on a wrong setting on a piece of equipment and have to go back and figure out what I did wrong. Oh well, I guess that's one of the advantages of being retired-lots of time on my hands. Thanks for your comments.

Just ordered AV7704 to replace my Onkyo pr-sc5508. I choose first pr-sc5530 but then I noticed it is without Adusseys :-( . So I asked seller replace 5530 by AV7704, I have been extremely happy with Adusseus room control.

I supose AV7704 will arrive on next week. According User manual AV7704 seems to be very intersting unit with modern features.
