Robert, any idea if Marantz plans on launching an 8806 with the new HDMI features or at least offer a board upgrade for the 8805?
I have been wanting to upgrade my non HDMI SSP for a long time but have been reluctant to pull the trigger on an uber expensive Trinnov or Storm Audio unit which had me looking at Emotiva as a more affordable option but Marantz is certainly another alternative. Since I do a lot of gaming I have been holding off until SSP companies have at least acknowledged the prospect of HDMI 2.1 board upgrades and they now seem to be thinking in that direction which is good. It sucks that the Marantz doesn't have more 8k60/4k120 inputs as just the one means only a single Xbox Series X, PS5 or Nvidia 3000 series PC can be connected which really given it's only the one input it makes more sense to go straight to the tv and use eARC to get the high res audio back to the SSP. |

Marantz has not told me about a successor to the AV8805 and although it's only an educated guess I do expect we'll see an HHDMI 2.1 board upgrade for the AV8805.
For users with three 60Hz 8K/120Hz 4K capable gaming devices I'd suggest connecting the PS5 and NVIDA 3000 series PC directly to the 8K display and connecting the Xbox Series X to the Marantz processor. Next week I'll be receiving Marantz's first allocation of AV7706 and we're also getting Trinnov's Altitude16. The Trinnov Altitude16 is going in our 15.2 channel store demo theater and Marantz's AV7706 will be in my personal 11.4 channel theater in our home. We'll also be among the first USA dealers receiving Marantz's AV7706 Processors for display/demo and stock. |

Just started looking for an 11.2 upgrade for next year, and this shows up. Coincidence? I think not....

i've heard that some of the new hdmi 2.1 receivers/pre-amps have an issue with the chip and doesn't play nice at all with Xbox X or PS5 because of it. something about not passing through the 4k/120hz i know a Denon was referenced though i'm not sure if Marantz uses the same chip in question.
i'm sure i'm getting something wrong about it, but, i know folks are saying if your getting or got a hdmi 2.1 tv that some of the new hdmi 2.1 receivers can't pass through the features properly. perhaps Wabo or Robert can speak to that as i suspect they know what i'm trying to bring up. second thought, Wabo, stay silent cause you're a crazy mofo! ![]() ![]() Last edited by solarrdadd; 11-11-2020 at 05:35 PM. |

Since 2.1 is of no concern to me, I haven't been following too closely. But yeah, I've heard the new 2.1 chips are buggy. It's the reason Marantz is delaying their 2.1 'A' upgrade program until spring of '21. Which brings me to ask... whatcha got cooking? New receiver? New tv? New Xbox X and/or PS5? Hi Robert. Does it put out much heat? I am running an SR6012 as a preamp only at present but I still get a lot of heat coming off it unless I run the AC Infinity I have above it.
If I upgrade to this I wont have room for the AC Infinity and will have 23mm space above it before the next shelf. |

everything is going perfect no issues with either my Marantz Pre-amp in the HT or my bedroom low profile receiver. they are rock solid for the most part. if i was to upgrade the my pre-amp, it wouldn't be until 2021 or 2022 if i'm still alive and if America still exists! ![]() ![]() how are you and your gang doing bud? hope you guys are safe and well. ![]() |

I'm surprised we have not seen reviews yet. It may be due to the limited supply.
My personal evaluation is very positive as are the several customers we sold Marantz's new AV7706 processors to. Easy to set-up, excellent features and with good amplifiers and speakers the audio fidelity and dynamic tonal range is excellent. |
