Bought this Receiver for $20. LOVE the silver on this thing once I cleaned it with warm water and a bit of soap. but I opened the cover and the guts are all dusty as hell, I figured I'd buy a can of compressed air and dust it that way but i dont want to mess anything up, so i ask you guys does that sound like a good idea?? what other method is there cuz i cant think of one. The only thing is 2 little knobs are missing but i already found them on ebay
the fella that sold me this unit also threw in a pair of speakers, vintage looking. the drivers are shot and have no brand name but the tweeters are Foster, for the life of me i cant find anything on the interwebs about this brand...any help on this is greatly appreciated.

Nice score indeed for $20.

As far as compressed air is concerned....no problem. However, be careful not to get to close to all of the intricate wiring as that would be a problem. Keep your distance in other words.

Nice job! I agree with John though. Be careful with the air can. When I bought my vintage Marantz 2240B it also had a lot of dust and dirt on the inside. In cleaning it up I found that patience is the single biggest factor. A warm damp cloth can be used on the surface of the power transformer and on any shield plates that may be in it. Q-tips with alcohol in the more delicate areas. Deoxit on the contacts (RCA Jacks and speaker connectors. Use sparingly the stuff is expensive.) Make sure everything is completely dry before putting any juice to it. You can scrounge flea-bay for the missing parts as I see you already have. Sooner or later just about anything you would need always seems to turn up. Good luck.

Radio Shack has been a good source for me. I also have a web site I will pass on once I get to a computer.

When I was heavy into vintage restoration, I relied a lot on the site here for my hard to find bulbs. If you can't find what you're looking for on the site, contact the guy since he has more stuff and/or access to other stuff. Good luck!

Oh yeah it works! It sounds awesome.... Lots of bass too. Popped it open dusted it off with an air can and a soft paint brush, did as good of a job as an amateur can do but it's better than the condition I got it in. Again love the way is shines. In the process of ordering bulbs now.

outstanding! i know how you feel buddy. I have a pair of Polk Audio SDA-2's and i baby those things somethine fierce! I'm about to have the crossovers re-done/upgraded and i'm adding the Oppo 105 to the 2 channel rig.

you keep us posted when you get those lamps as well as after you get some burn-in time with the new receiver and your system how you like it. is this a receiver your going to use in a seperate 2 channel system and if so, what components are you going to dedicate to it?

not knowing the sensitivity of them and the size of the woofer drivers, i'd say go with the Sansui. especially if you like it loud.

if they are in the 95db+ then the Pioneer would be good if you don't like it too loud.

That's a great deal, congratulations. I have the same tweeter and wave guide in my speakers. You'll love the off axis response. The sensitivity is 92-db and they are rated up to 250-Watts. The more power you can give them the better.
