Default Uncle Drew- Kyrie Irving, Shaquille O'Neal, Tiffany Haddish

Quote:
After draining his life savings to enter a team in the Rucker Classic street ball tournament in Harlem, Dax (Lil Rel Howery) is dealt a series of unfortunate setbacks, including losing his team to his longtime rival (Nick Kroll). Desperate to win the tournament and the cash prize, Dax stumbles upon the man, the myth, the legend UNCLE DREW (NBA All-Star Kyrie Irving) and convinces him to return to the court one more time. The two men embark on a road trip to round up Drew's old basketball squad (Shaquille O’Neal, Chris Webber, Reggie Miller, Nate Robinson, and Lisa Leslie) and prove that a group of septuagenarians can still win the big one.

After a successful five years as a fan-favorite digital episodic series, originally conceived by Pepsi, UNCLE DREW, will hit theaters June 29, 2018.
Kyrie Irving, Lil Rel Howery, Shaquille O’Neal, Reggie Miller, Nate Robinson, Chris Webber, Erica Ash, Lisa Leslie, with Tiffany Haddish and Nick Kroll.

I'll be checking this out.

I would love to see cameos from Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson playing the characters from White Men Can't Jump.

Wonder if other current and former NBA players will make cameos?

They should have had Larry Johnson as Grandmama in it.

Just saw it and it's a totally fun movie. The movie's formula but what makes it work is the chemistry between Kyrie Irving and his team. They managed to be funny and commit to the overall premise, as silly as it was. Other funny players here are Nick Kroll as the coach of the rival team and JB Smooth as a barber hyping up the legend of Uncle Drew.
It starts a little slow though but it picks up quickly from there but there's never a dull moment here.
This is lighthearted entertainment with many laughs and I had a great time watching it.

Agree with the above, fun time at the movies.

Always a good time to be had when the cast is clearly enjoying themselves.

Crazy that this all came from a Pepsi ad

Are you really from the Burgh, or is that from the movie?

I saw this today and had a fun time. That’s what this movie is, a fun time watching ballers do their thing and silly jokes. Doesn’t try to be anything more. Good stuff. I’ll get the Blu-ray when it hits the $9.99 range.

I was gonna wait until rental, but my love for Ms. Haddish might get me out to see a cheap showing.

My theater has a Drew Punch, which is basically Orange Soda....ummm.....that feels a tad racist. No?

No.

Stereotyping is not in and of itself racist. Unless you view drinking orange soda as demeaning?

Nah, stereotypes are just generalizatioms based on commonalities that contain a lot of truth.

Racism is thinking one race is superior to another. I don't see orange soda, or most, stereotypes falling under that umbrella.

The movie is also about basketball, and a basketball is typically orange. It makes perfect sense.

A lot of smaller movies tend to get buried under summer giants. But a few manage to become sleeper hits or outright break out while others get lost in the shuffle.

Was this at an AMC theater with a bar? I've been to a few with a bar on the inside and have movie themed cocktails. The had one for Ocean's 8 called The Heist made with Ciroc Peach and one for Solo called the Scoundrel, made with Crystal Head Vodka.
