A lot of scans are done by outside companies (illuminate Hollywood have done both 24 and The X-Files for FOX) but FOX would have the negatives and tapes, so it would be highly unlikely that they were done without their knowledge.

It's quite possible FOX have offset some of the authoring costs by selling some syndication deals to other networks or TV providers.

I'm thinking that this is a possibility too.

I read that they are going to show the first ep of Season 7 today rather than season 1, for some reason.

Hello everyone!

I contacted PIVOT. I asked if it was an upscaling or if the series has been completely remastered from scratch. The answer is: "These episodes are completely remastered in HD".

I'm really excited now!

I might cry. Buffy is my all-time favorite show and I have been dreaming about seeing it in HD for a long time. Having it on Blu-ray would be amazing.
I contacted both Pivot and FOX. I wonder if they'll reply.

Have these been on a while? It seems unusual that we wouldn't have noticed, unless it's just now they're switching to HD. Bizarre if they've started at Season 7!

Even though I don't have pivot I'm beyond happy. I NEED to bug Comcast about adding it to my area now.

Also, I'm pretty sure they're going to start airing it in HD next Tuesday since the schedule lists the first five episodes of season one Aug 26

That promo looks amazing! I really hope we do see this released on blu-ray. I normally like to purchase individual seasons, or I will wait on a price drop for a complete series set, but a complete series of this would be day one.

Yeah that's a weird schedule. I can only assume that because season 7 was the most recent season, it's HD benefits will be more obvious to viewers or something. Anyways man, I feel like drinking a bottle of champagne :r ock::roc k:

No, I think they just broadcast the whole series in SD. Now, this is the last episodes.
Next week, they start the series from the beginning. But this time in HD.

I'm not going to allow myself to get too excited yet, but I am extremely curious to see how things go.

They had me at 'Buffy in HD'. Hell with freakin' Star Wars, Fox needs to get this out on Blu-ray ASAP. Those early DVDs are crummy as hell.

And you know what? I'm not gonna whine about the framing. If they're 16:9 then they're 16:9, I can't change that. JUST TAKE MY GODDAMNED MONEY!!

When there's major cropping going on, that's when I'll side with keeping it 4:3. lol If there's just a little cropping like they did with certain scenes in Friends, I'm OK with that. If it can be opened up without any cropping at all, that's even better.

Yes it's really amazing! We will rediscover the series after so many years!

Besides, someone who has a friend who works at 20th Century Fox in France, has revealed that his friend has said that 20th Century Fox has just signed a contract to acquire the rights of the episodes in HD, in order to get the series on a physical support (Blu-Ray I guess).
20th Century Fox France indicated that this is due for release "soon" (to quote). The speed of the output depends on the demand and the views of the Pivot TV channel.

I think it's possible. I do not think this person would lie. But it is better to wait for official confirmation.
