Poor thing.
I think rdjam must be slightly whiffed over this post I recently made……………

I’ve been asked if I think that rdjam, the petition man, is a paid MS blogger.
I don’t know and I don’t much care. If he is, they certainly aren’t getting their money’s worth, given the quality. He likes to talk authoritatively on topics that he is absolutely clueless about. I turned him off a couple years back when he was making comments in regards to the effects of the application of grain reduction on 4K DI’s vs. that on 2K DI’s which was the largest load of cow manure I think I’ve ever seen posted on the internet.

Regarding my linked post above, I was commenting upon what has happened in the past at both an individual recruitment level, see –
http://www.sapiensbryan.com/index.ph...-paid-blogger/

and in a more insulated fashion through intermediaries such as Federated Media………
http://www.betanews.com/article/Blog..._Ad/1182798586

I have no reason to believe that the same shenanigans are not happening still in some form or fashion in the high-def optical disc war forums/blogs. These people don’t get religion overnight.

And in regards to any public denials by anyone in the business, I don’t know if you all are old enough to remember talking heads for years (even under oath) stating…..”Nicotine is not addictive.”
Or more recently in the past, one talking head (the one with the hair, as the other would have told the truth enthusiastically, I imagine)…”I did not have sex with that woman---Monica Lewinsky.”

Hi all,

my first posting at this forum...but I've been having a lot of fun reading of the excitement and anticipation over the last few days!

Been a Blu supporter since Feb, when I got the PS3...almost turned purple for Transformers, but decided not to due to its lossy soundtrack.

Anyway, thought I'd join the forum...I ordered 300 and Troy: DC last weekend and just ordered HP 1-4 (will get OOTP this Sunday at BB's BOGO).

Here's a thought regarding BD studios who may go neutral...wouldn't they have to do another encode to fit many of their blu films on red discs? I see on the bitrate thread that many BD-50 films have film sizes greater than 30Gb already...so it just doesn't seem to make sense for a Sony, Disney or Fox to "downgrade", so to speak.

Cheers,

Joe

Give that man a cigar! That's why that rumor has been pretty much shot down already in most forums

Not to divert attention from the always important rdjam I-pulled-this-out-of-my-a$$ rumors, but...

Do any insiders have any thoughts on the announced Golden Globe nominees today? Anything you're especally glad to see get a nod... or anything you think should have been in another film's place?

Also, anyone know for sure who has the US video rights to Sweeny Todd -- Paramount or Warner?

Agreed!!! The decision to release Pan's Labyrinth was probably done over 6 month's ago before the impending Warner announcement. It could very well be they're first and only release on hd dvd

Hehe. Everyone should have already known you have brains. I mean you do support Blu-Ray after all.

Joe has a very good point... which makes me ask you the reverse question:

The day we get Uni, are we going to be stuck with the low-diet bitrates of their HD DVD encodes, or can they be coerced into producing fresh minted encodes that take full advantage of Blu-ray's bandwidth?

Well, if not for 100% of their current releases, can reencodes be considered for their big titles?

Warner could get a LOT more of my money if they'd release Batman Begins and Matrix already.

It has been said to death and pretty much set in stone that Batman Begins will release to compliment The Dark Knight hitting theaters.

Default How to Get DVD Releases on BD?

How does one convince smaller studios to release on BD?

"In the Shadow of the Moon" (http://www.intheshadowofthemoon.com)
"The Wonder of it All" (http://www.thewonderofitallfilm.com)

are coming to DVD now or later. They do not appear to also list any high definition disc for release, so how do I convince them otherwise? The websites list feedback/contact email addresses to which I've submitted a polite request. I have not received any replies.

As an admitted space nut, my concern is that these films are small enough that if they are not released on BD now, they never will.

Comments?

If they release RIGHT NOW, they could expect, at most, what, about 100,000 copies sold. If they release in 6 months, they would probably sell twice as many. I think they are waiting for the best timing to release these titles. Undoubtedly, Batman Begins will be released just prior to The Dark Knight's theatrical debut. That would boost sales of the movie AND ticket sales at the box office. As for the Matrix...well, it would be nice to have it sooner rather than later, but I believe that having a polished product is more important to WB than a quick release. We will have to see how comfortable the disc authors are with the 1.1 toolkit the BDA provided them with/

I was wondering the same thing. I've heard complaints from some about the quality of Universal's releases on HD-DUD. If we do start seeing Uni Blu-Rays, one would hope that they'd do a better encoding job on at least some of their titles. My suspicion, however, is that they will merely call Warner Bros. up and say, "Hey WB! How about lending us that software you use to port your HD-DVDs to Blu, eh?" (I realize the process is a little more complex than this, but you get the idea)

I really hope that Universal steps it up a notch when they come into the Blu House.

Was anything mentioned about the addition of another insider? I don't recall seeing anything, but it could have been lost in the shuffle.
