Does everyone remember this post I made --the last time word of a possible WB change to Blu-ray exclusivity was floated on this forum by a troll (who apparently turned out to be an AVS forum member and was communicating his hoax with another member of AVS during the whole event) and people asked to comment upon its validity ?………….

The key phrase is…..“There have been discussions”.
Then, the following day some people desired something more unequivocal from me that they could hang their hat on, so I said…..

Now does anyone wonder why I specifically used the phrase "near future"?
This current WB situation indeed has substance and has been in the works for awhile.

(second bolding by me for personal emphasis)
And thats all we need to know coming from you. Thats as damn clear as you can make it without losing your job. Awesome. Nothing signed, nothing done, but substance and reality to this thing happening is all we can hope for.

This is certainly enough info for me to chew on until it happens. I'm sure we will be among the first people publicly to know about it though... in some way, shape, or form.

I for one did notice it, and thank you for the heads up.

It will be a sad day if the insiders retire after Blu wins..

Insiders - specifically Sony -

is there some technical reason why hitting "stop" on the PS3 and then "play" must result in the disc reloading and starting from the beginning?

I find this truly annoying and can only speculate that it's a result of BD-J?

How about one stop just stops the playback; two takes us back to the XMB?

To kjack and other CE insiders,
We've heard from kjack that CEs may opt to provide memory card slots/USB ports in their Profile 1.1/2.0 players so that they need not. Here's my three questions:

1) Would it be easier for CEs to use PC DRAM slots instead? Since the memory requirement is not going to change, users can just buy a DRAM and leave it there.

2) Would the content downloaded from the net into the memory card be erased automatically or would the user have a choice in which content from which movie to erase and which to save?

3) Can the content in the memory card/USB flash drive be copied and archived on a PC so that users don't have to download the content again?

This is to paidgeek to be passed on to the PS3 engineers: The PS3 has enough persistant memory (unless the user really used up all of the HD space) for Profile 2.0. However, people have been complaining about running out of memory when they browse the web using the PS3's browser. Can PS3 engineers do something about that?

My suggestion is to come up with a firmware that allows the PS3 to access a USB Flashdrive and or Memory Stick with ample free memory (4GB) and use that as its additional RAM. That way, the PS3 has enough memory for web browsing. Also, if this is possible, can this be enabled via Lynux installed HDD as well? I'm sure PS3's Lynux users will appreciate this.

Thanks guys. *drops fifty in gift certificates*

And I wish I could race my dirt bike through the streets of Adelanto every day of the week rather than just on the track they have there. Otherwise, it’s El Mirage or on up to Ridgecrest and the Sequoia National Forest.

I will offer one more tidbit though…. it is not common for substantive meetings to take place at CES the day before the doors open to the consumer crowd – whether that translates into immediate public action still remains to be seen.

Did you mean Uncommon?
Sentence doesn't make sense as it stands

It makes sense if you take it to mean that there usually aren't such meetings, but this year there is.

Yes, was single during medschool and most of my residency; and groaned plenty. But usually not in a good way . Most of the time it was: "How much an hour am I actually making? WTF!" or "It's easier to count the hours I didn't work this week. WTF!".

To echo some others, thanks again for all of the tantalizing tidbits of information recently. I owe you a serious drink (like Chateau Mouton-Rothschild '45 or Screaming Eagle '97) or a cigar or both someday, if our paths should ever cross.

Cheers mate.

And many of us who live here do just that. But since I no longer have my bike I have to borrow one now.

Note that he said _substantive_ meetings. Given his track record, I think it is a safe bet that there is such a meeting.

G'day all,

That is an interesting commercial. So I second your question and add does it mean anything? Sure seems like it does .

No, it doesn't mean anything. Warner makes commercials for DVD (also available on HD and Blu), HD and Blu-ray, and runs them all.

People just haven't caught the HD DVD version yet I'm sure. So long as they're releasing on all 3, I doubt that will change
