Default Want to buy a DS/3DS.

I am looking to buy a DS/3DS for the simple reason of getting back into Pokemon (Haven't played since Crystal lol).

Have there ever been DS/3DS systems on sale for Black Friday? Not talking pre-owned, I have a habit of not buying pre-owned systems and would rather be the first owner so no craigslist either.

If not, I could just get the system now, and get Pokemon X later on during Black Friday if it turns out to be on sale.

I haven't been in the handheld game since the original PSP, but for Pokemon I will make an exception.

Any advice?

Very simple you'll want to get either a 3DS or a 3DS XL. 3ds games can not be played on a ds but all ds games can be played on a 3ds or 2ds. The only way to play the latest Pokemon games X and Y is to have a 3ds or the new 2ds which I personally wouldn't recommend to anyone.

So should I get the 3DS or the 3DSXL?

Is the XL bigger system wise (not just screen, but the body itself).?

It's only about an inch longer and about half an inch wider. It's about the same thickness. The obvious benefit is the bigger screen size besides that I feel it sits nicer in the hands and is a bit easier control wise. I picked mine up off eBay earlier this year for around $160 used.

Oh and be prepared to pay for the Pokemon games as well. Obviously X and Y are going to be around retail but the other titles for the DS have retained their value even on the used market. I think I paid around $35 used for each of White, Platinum, and Soul Silver. I bought White 2 at retail price new.

I've got about $200 worth of RZ certificates, so I may use it on something soon. Maybe not the enetire purchase but a good portion.

Last year on Black Friday, Best Buy had a 3DS for $150 that also came with a free download of Super Mario 3D Land, which I bought. About 3 weeks later, they still had some left but they were priced $130, so I was able to get a price adjustment. Maybe they'll have another deal like that this year.

All games Published by Nintendo are like that. Pokemon, Mario, Zelda, etc. Used copies never go down in price and so neither does the price of a new copy. I've also seen ones Published by Sony and Microsoft that have felt like they will never go down in price, but not quite as bad.

I remember on the Wii that Twilight Princess (a Wii launch title) didn't get budget priced until 4 to 5 years after it was released.

The XL is just a sturdier build in general, and the battery life is longer.

My gf has an original, and totally envies the larger-screen experience I have with our 3DS games on my XL, vs her's.

I suggest the XL.

May buy one next week.

Forgot I had like a $1000 limit on Paypal Bill Me Later, and now Best Buy accepts it as a form of payment I may just go and get it.

With him choosing to reference X instead of Y, I was waiting for the porn reference.
