Are you guys referring to the gamecube controller adapter or wave bird receiver?

There's plenty in my town, I can buy some and you can just pay the shipping to send and gas money for me to get it.

The NGC adapter for the Wii U isn't region-locked so if you don't want to pay $100 like a moron then just import from Europe.

My NGC Bundle should arrive tomorrow and then I'll continue my Smash with the GameCube controller (can't really get used to the GamePad with it).

I just read that Smash's Classic Mode pulls a Kid Icarus Uprising and forces a lower difficulty / strips you of items if you lose even once.

LAME! Bad Nintendo!

Sure does

Makes it disheartening to get to the last section of Master Fortress on 9.0 and die within striking distance of victory

I've only finished it on 9.0 with Link so far. I've got multiple at 8.0 and 8.5 after losing once or twice though.

Warning: forthcoming

[Show spoiler]It's as if the developers in both cases wanted a game that induced ragequits.

I often say, its rules like these that inspired ppl to invent Save States and Cheat Devices. Regrettably there aren't 3DS or Wii U cheat devices or Real Time Saving apps at the present time. But I do hold out hope for sometime after the final system updates.

I used to love playing Street Fighter on the highest setting to see the cool ending and credits sequences. Sure I'd lose a few dozen fights along the way, but what was nice was that I could have all the rematches I wanted and just keep trying till I finally finished, and I'd like to think I advanced a few skill levels along the way. Taking that ability out a game by tethering difficulty to # of deaths is a shameful step backwards. Players should be encouraged to try higher settings, not intimidated away from them by having to put loads of progress on the line. If I wanted to gamble I'd go to a casino.

What I think makes a great game is a respectable, satisfying challenge but with maximum user convenience. Give me hard stunts/fights, just let me save before and after them so any setbacks brought about by losing are kept to a minimum.

Yeah indeed it is but during the beginning it was hard as hell because I was still getting used to the GamePad, and still now, I don't like it for Smash Wii U it's just not ideal nor comfortable.

I've gotten used to the GamePad and got better with it but it'll never be as good as using a traditional GameCube, Hori/PDP, Wii Classic Controller or Wii U Pro Controller. Dunno what it is, but the left analogue stick on the GamePad doesn't seem to be quick responsive when I need it to be and it annoys me when I want it to be.

Edit: People who're interested on getting GameCube adapter for the Wii U then read this below.

I've always thought the Gamepad and Wii U Pro controllers d-pads and sticks seem like they have a lot of play and there's always a slight delay or mushiness to anything I play on the system.

I've been reading reports that disconnecting from online fights it throwing up an error code that can brick systems.

This apparently only affects some US Smash Wii U owners because the rest seem to be brick-free.

I've been playing it nonstop since November 27 and it plays flawlessly!

I just wish there was a meaty single-player mode like Adventure mode from Melee or Subspace Emissary from Brawl

Just got this game. I have NEVER owned a smash bro. game before and I just don't know what to think.

When I first put in the game I really had no idea where to start. No tutorial. Every fighter is already unlocked. No story mode. So this game is just a fighter game to play local and online?

The fighting is chaos. I have no clue what is going on. I really think they should have some sort of tutorial. I think i just need to watch some video tutorial online if I can when I have some time.

Any advice for someone new to the game? Played about 30 min so far, just not seeing the appeal just yet, but I'm sure it will grow with how much people love the series. I guess I am just used to game unlocking things as you win, lose. I notice you earn coins when you play a match but how do you spend them and what does it unlock?

Exactly why I have never been able to get into the series. Perhaps I just over think the games instead of simply playing them.

I have never sunk any time into the single player stuff, but I know there are certain modes like Classic Mode(?) where it's kind of the main single player component, with a boss at the end. Then, there are other modes as well, practicing, and other things. The main thing for me is casual online play and local play with my bro. 1vs1 online is the best and funnest mode as it's the fairest.

As for the characters, they are not all unlocked

Is it true that the GC adapter is only compatible for Super Smash Bros?

I am thinking (hoping) we will see GC games on the Wii U shop channel eventually, and would like to use my GC controllers for them.

I'd be more than happy to spend 30 min-hour teaching you if you're interested.

It's chaos but it's controlled chaos. And competitively, there's no items which makes matches more fair and about skill and character control than random luck.
