I'd suggest renting it somehow and I'd be more than happy to teach you.

The game is about concepts, not chaos.

Different characters have better strengths than others. Some have more weaknesses than others.

Example: Jigglypuff is such a light character, that if you don't play smart you can get KO'd at a low percentage. To compensate, Jigglypuff has strong attacks and has some of the best jumping ability in the game for recovery.

On the other side of the spectrum, Little Mac has the strongest arsenal of close up attacks and it's dangerous to be close to him so you have to play him like a boxer (pick and choose your spots). On the other hand his jump/recovery is easily the worst in the game, so if you can get him off the map the momentum is in your favor.

Some characters are all about different strengths i.e.:
Keep Away - These characters work best when not close up but at a distance mainly because of their projectile strength. Examples: Duck Hunt, Olimar, Toon Link, Pac-Man

Brute Power - These characters have moves that have major power potential to KO your opponent early, but at the same time they're either slow or have terrible recovery. Examples: Bowser, Ganondorf, Little Mac, King Dedede

Speed - These characters have traditionally been the go-to favorites for pros in Smash games. They have lots of speed and enough power to make a match difficult for your opponent. Think welterweight division in boxing where it's not the heaviest or lightest, but the most efficient all around athletes regarding speed and power. Examples: Fox, Captain Falcon, Sheik, Diddy Kong, Sonic

Combo Potential - These characters rack up damage with smaller attacks that aren't as powerful but are more "control" characters. Examples: Mario, Luigi, Wario, Peach, Marth, etc.

---

I could break it down even more for you. Once you learn "smashonomics" it's actually quite enjoyable to try and learn all the characters in the game. Not only are they like your favorite characters in some of your favorite games growing up, but they're just fun to see them all collide in the same game.

Hope we get some solid info on dlc soon (other than Mewto). Hoping for at least 4 new characters and 4 new battle areas (or heck not so new if they can transfer some over from Brawl).

I think it quite pricey for the content you will be getting, especially when compared to the MK8 DLC

I've got all the stages and characters, but not the Mii outfits (I don't use Mii enough to justify buying the costumes) and I'm really happy.

Especially with the levels. While I never had a problem with the character roster (still can't believe how much whining I've heard over that), I was not impressed with the stage selection. There are some great ones, but I just feel like Melee and Brawl were more impressive with their stage selection.

I really love playing on the N64 Hyrule Castle and Peach's Castle again.

Super Mario Maker Invades Super Smash Bros in New Stage

Last week, Super Mario Maker launched for the Wii U. Not only is this one of Nintendo’s biggest titles of the year, it is one of their biggest games in recent memory, as the company has been giving it a huge marketing push in the past few months. This promotion continues with some crossover DLC, as a Super Mario Maker stage is coming to both the Wii U and 3DS versions of Super Smash Bros.

Coming on September 30, the Super Mario Maker stage for Smash Bros promises some exciting and unpredictable matches. The stage is created every time a match begins, so it will change between plays. A large hand will appear during play to add hazards to the stage or fix broken blocks. Only as many as four players were shown in the trailer, so it is currently unclear if the map will support the new 8-player Smash.

Either version of the stage will cost $2.49, or you can buy both together at a discount for $3.49

Watch the quick and quirky trailer here:
Both Super Mario Maker and Super Smash Bros are available now.

"Special Broadcast" in December. Cloud (FF7) was announced for SSB for an undetermined date.

I used to have it. I loved it up until I unlocked everything and then it was just meh (as it is with most fighting games for me). Unfortunately I'm not into competitive multiplayer either so I didn't benefit from that aspect of it. GORGEOUS looking game though that's full of fast paced action!

I've played smash bros since the original. Last year I bought the 3ds version, but couldn't justify spending another 60 bucks on the exact same game, so I waited for a sale.

As far as cloud, yeah, he's paid dlc.

I bought this pretty much when it came out and I think I've probably one played it about 10 times. I'm getting really bored of them now. The family starts playing and everyone loves it for around an hour, then "meh". Not sure if it's my age or that all reboots feel the same
