He'd only done a couple of cameos in films after Murder on the Orient Express (The Duellists and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother) and he lined up five films in quick succession as a comeback as a leading man: Loophole, Wolfen, Looker, Annie and Shoot the Moon. They all flopped (Annie might just have broken even with overseas earnings, but it was a massive underperformer considering it was expected to be the year's biggest hit) and after that he alternated theatre with character and supporting roles, only taking roles if the project or the character interested him.

Transfer looks great on this one. Lots of nice, organic grain, but it's very detail-enhancing. WAC is doing the great work. And I know own everything Crichton has directed that's available on Blu-ray.

Kind of like how Anthony Hopkins was everywhere after Silence of the Lambs and Sam Jackson is in every Tarantino flick. They don't call them contract players anymore but they're good enough that they get hired a lot. Hopkins seemed to be in a movie a month for years. I haven't seen Albert Finney in anything after Erin Brockovich. He was great in that.

Even at the height of his fame, Finney was never prolific - just eight films in the 60s (two of them just single scene supporting roles, one unreleased) and six in the 70s (two of them just cameos, one barely released). 1981-2 was a real anomaly in his career, doing five lead roles back-to-back: in the rest of the decade he only made three more films. He's only made a dozen films this century, and nothing since Skyfall (partially due to health issues). Part of it was because he alternated stage work (though he hasn't been in a play since 1997), but much of it is down to his making enough money not to have to work unless it interests him. He spent much of the 70s just travelling the world - at one point he'd been out of touch for so long there were even newspaper reports that he was missing presumed dead in the South American jungle.

Congrats! Bountiful thanks, Warner, for leaving the grain in, and not tampering with the image. The encode is wonderful. I can't emphasize enough, this is a true gift from WAC, and for me, it's money well spent toward supporting their current efforts at giving us real dope, no DNR, high-bitrate, great encodes with plenty of breathing room, and a natural and organic grain in the filmscape. 5/5 from me all the way around.

THE SWARM is another winner in this regard.

Keep up the great work, Warner, and pay your encoder extra for finally getting it. Now THAT'S how it's done. Wish more companies would follow suit and follow your stellar example on how to properly produce a catalog blu-ray release in the year 2018

Just watched The Looker a couple weeks ago on VUDU and now I'm looking for the blu-ray (along with Wolfen). Great movie, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Now I'm on an Albert Finney kick...

I've never heard of it, but I've kinda always enjoyed young Diane Keaton films (she was so gorgeous). Does Shoot the Moon have a blu-ray release??

No, not yet. I don't even think its had a MOD DVD release yet.

I purchased a copy of the DVD when it was first released back in the 2000s and its one of a number of Warners DVDs that have stopped playing at the half way mark.

Just watched Looker, the transfer was fantastic!

Perfect amount of grain and great detail enhancement on this blu ray treatment like others have said, colors were rich on my OLED LG 65'.

I have always loved the film, I need that Looker Gun, I can get some things done with it...LOL!
