Do I need an HDMI premium cable to take advantage of this feature?
I don't think you can do it that way. The Oppo is not an eARC device.

The TV must be connected to another eARC device for eARC to work. Otherwise you'll get bog-standard ARC or nothing.

But can't I just send PCM to the Oppo then? Nothing special about that, right?

Just got the 77 inch B9 to replace my 65 E6. Lost the ability to watch 3D sadly, but super excited about the larger size and picture quality has improved a bit over the 3 year model difference. Just wanted to share since I've wanted a 77 inch since the day I bought the 65E6 back in 2017

Question: Which internet settings do I have to choose to be able to log in and stay logged in on various sites, such as Blu-ray.com?

It worked the first time, but then I changed settings, and now I can't anymore.
I know I could experiment, but an answer from someone that knows would be much preferred.

My understanding is that the C, E and W use exactly the same panel and hardware driving that panel. Essentially, it's only the case and speaker systems that differ between models, with some anecdota evidence that the E up have their panels 'cherry picked'.

I subscribe to several professional reviewers on their You Tube Channels. They actually got a loaner and compared side by side using the same players and same disks. Quite impressive. Sometimes they get a little long on the tooth . . . but it was good I watched everything before I picked the e9 over the c9.

Part of the "proof" regarding the e9 prevention of burn in is that the warranties that came with my set no longer preclude burn in from being a covered item under the warranty. It appears that they are now convinced their new instructions and menu preventions when followed will no longer cause a repair, like the set a few years ago. Knowing that they now will accept a repair order or a replacement delivered is a great leap toward showing e9 customers they see no issues.

Do you too have a source? (wink)

My sources are the professional reviewers on You Tube who got loaners and did side by side comparison. I will try to dig up the channels for you. It may be the same processor, but it is in the software of the e9.

Just got a b9 65 inch. It's quite a change from my 10 year old Panasonic plasma. Looks so damn good I don't know what to do with myself!

Welcome to 4k, me!

Just to update here: It does work, and it's very easy too.
All I had to do was connect the main out of the Oppo with the eARC of the LG, set the Oppo to ARC, and the LG sound to eARC, and voila.

Question New firmware for C9

Does anyone know what the new C9 firmware updates do, and if they improve or worsen anything?

I am in Europe btw., so I don't know if it's just here, or worldwide.

You're probably just hearing ARC in pure blissful ignorance.

If you're happy with it, so what? Enjoy. Full bitrate DTS etc. is no slouch.

Either way, I only use it for youtube, and my Netflix trial month, which has just come to an end. I don't watch TV, only Blu-ray and UHD, so I have little need for eARC outside of the aforementioned, and for that it is certainly leaps and bounds above the TV speaker sound.

That'll all be equal then and all you need. For compressed sources, standard ARC will do the job 100%.

Well, my tv died on me today. I just barely have enough saved up for a C9 at this point (I was trying to hold out for this years model but this has put a rush on things). I'm probably going to make the trip to Best Buy for this tomorrow morning before work or Saturday since I'm off all day.

Finally pulled the trigger on a 4K and picked the OLED C9. Canít wait until I receive it. Price was finally where I needed it. Will be sad to replace my plasma but the picture was starting to go out on me on occasion.
I will update after I get it with my thoughts.

With Memorial Day coming in a few days, does anyone think the LG C9 will go lower than $2,200 USD or will it stay there? Iíve been thinking about pulling the trigger on this. I was going to take a trip to Canada to get a Panasonic, but thatís all changed since they are pulling out of tv sales in Canada. And the LGs seem to be the next best thing, especially for all around movies, sports, and gaming! I would go with a CX, but Iíve heard about the possible data issues with the 2.1 HDMI that it isnít fully capable of doing 48 gbps.

@PUsokrJosh305, just checked LG's dealer promotional roadmap and the price does not change through the end of the model year.
