I was hoping target wouldnt do an exclusive; although i bought the 3d version for insurgent, so i have already broken consistency. From the bad reviews on this, I'll just wait for a price drop. hey the target version may be 12.99 before ya know it. I can wait on this.

True, but like I said, I don't have to have the target exclusive. Sure I want it, but....

I do know few movies that didn't get 3D releases in US had international releases in 3D - Hunger Games: Mocking jay part 2 being latest I believe.

Maybe you are confusing with the 2nd movie (Insurgent) which was released in 3D here in US, but the 3rd movie never did.

So your boycott is unnecessary...
Yes, I might have made a mistake. I thought I saw a trailer for this movie being in 3D and when I found out that it wasn't in 3D, it made me think that Summit Entertainment and LionsGate pulled the 3D version and then refused to release the Blu-Ray 3D combo pack. Sorry about the rant.

Loving this cover! This looks different from the past Target exclusives?

It's a shame Walmart never continued their exclusives for the series, I loved the digibook for the first film.

Well continuing the tradition of the first two steelbooks, this one shall be mines. I'm just happy it's $19.99 instead of $27.99.

Default Steelbook cover

Gonna get the steelbook to match first two! First movie was great, second was terrible and third was okay. I'll still watch them though!

Target exclusive artwork is very, very bland. Just two big faces looking out at you. Not appropriate for this film. Maybe for a romantic comedy. Pass.

[Show spoiler]

Nice now it can match my other 2 from target, even thought his movie was horrible IMO.

Is this Target exclusive in a regular Blu-Ray sized case/slipcase?

If you wait for a price drop we may not have Ascendant's movie, for it is still not officially confirmed if it is still happening. Allegiant's Home Media sales will help support it

I haven't seen any of this series just yet (I've been holding off on this one and the Maze Runner series since the YA genre is just saturated right now), but they didn't really have the need or audience to split the last book into two movies from all the numbers I've seen so far (Their revenue dropped $20 million domestically on the first sequel which should have been a warning not to go crazy with ambition).

They would have been much better off keeping it one movie, specifically because at this juncture, they are operating at a loss and still must deliver a final film, if only because they had the gall to separate into two films to begin with.

The Hunger Games and Harry Potter series got away with this because they had general critical approval, HUGE audience followings, HUGE box office revenues and home media sales. Deathly Hallows Part 1 remains near the top of my favorites for that series, and Mockingjay Part 1 wasn't bad either by any stretch. The Divergent series had none of that actually going for it, and while I hear plenty of people referencing either series, I haven't yet heard any person reference the Divergent series ever, in any conversation, at all.

This is a case of gross miscalculation and profit-seeking where the material they were working with and their performance-to-date was not strong enough to warrant the risk of splitting into two films. Better to have focused on delivering one strong film than a mediocre "treading water" first act that would lose gobs of cash and thereby also reduce the budget for the necessarily meaty final act.

I have no skin in the game with regard to how this series plays out, but from the outside it just looks like whoever made the big decisions on this one really fumbled the ball after the second film came out.
