Pioneer? Corporations are ALWAYS in it for the money and nothing else. Maybe an employee enjoys his job, but public investors only care about the bottom line, hence their desire for less safety regulations, etc. A private company might care, but they still need to eat.

Just clarifying. The Sony-KDL-55W900A is active 3D.

The Sony XBR-65X900A is passive 3D. Reading the reviews, I gather the 2013 model does not stream 4K; the 2014 does.

Thanks for the lead.

I've moved on to 32K already.... It's the only thing that will do for virtual reality that looks indistinguishable from reality short of a brain memory implant from Rekall.

Has there been any word on manufacturers bringing 3D back to 4K tv sets in the US in 2020 or 2021? With the PS5 on the horizon, I might have to make a tough decision to upgrade to a 4K set which would suck for the 182 3D titles in my collection.

The word has been heard and it is NO. Samsung and the rest think the world HATES 3D and wishes they could live in Flat World.

Want 3D + 4K? IMO, get a projector that has it. There are several out there. Some even support 2.35:1 screens.

I'm hoping it makes a slow and maybe quiet resurgence as an added feature.

Just buy a PSVR headset, keep your PS4 as back up (or buy one if you don’t own it already) and your 3D collection is then safe for several years.

If my Sharp 80" 3D TV ever bites the dust, I would consider replacing it with one of the new UST projectors that support 3D. The Optoma P1 4k Laser UST is one example.

Too pricey for me. I'll probably have to go with one of the two new BenQ units which are getting raves.

BenQ Projectors are good! A definite buy! I recently purchased the Vankyo Burger 101 Mini 3D Projector from Amazon. It is a decent mini projector to show 3D Blu-rays. It does have problems with the 2D and 3D movies on the same disc. I'm still seeking a solution for that. It does SBS, TB and Frame Packing for 3D. I bought it for $199.99 to get away from the big bulb projectors. Though this is and LED bulb projector. I have a BenQ MW519 3D Projector and a PS4 with PSVR.

What kind of problem does it have? It's the BD player's job to change modes when you select the 3D version on a combo disc (you DID actually select 3D, right?). The projector shouldn't know the difference between that and starting a separate disc. Most regular 3D movies aren't 3D on the opening menus, etc. so technically there is no difference.

Yes, I actually selected 3D! It still didn't give a 3D picture.

Solved the combo 3D blu-ray problem with the Vankyo Burger 101 projector last night. The 3D is better with non 2D-3D blu-rays. Still doing more video tests with it. My BenQ's 3D is far better than the Vankyo's.

3D is not affected by whether disc space is used to hold a 2D version or not. They're separate files. It's probably just a weak title.
