That is actually astronomical since most petitions on anything ho.e-theater related gets far less. There was a petition to LG for some audio issue a while back. It had less than 3k signatures but LG addressed it. If LG dropped HDR tomorrow, a petition to bring it back might not even reach 3k signatures. Over 20,000 is unheard of as far as the tv companies are concerned. Never been that big a response for any other HT matter.
it's also representative of those who don't know about on-line petitions or that they can't replace a broken 3D set....until they need to.

What confuses me is that if any of these companies just released ONE set with 3D, and if it were a high quality set with regard to 4K, every single 3D user would flock to it.
Maybe if there are a ton of 3D tvs, it's not worth it to them. But it seems like at least one company should want to get that market.

You'd think it would be little bother to at least release them as 3D streaming titles. Vudu now appears to have Hotel Transylvania in 3D as part of a combo pack. I haven't seen it anywhere else. Sky has MI:Fallout in 3D streaming but no one else. If one can get it, why can't they all? I'd prefer they stream MVC, though.

Dear Samsung,

If you wish to dominate the 4K market, leaving your competitors far behind -- may I suggest taking a bold step and market a 4K-miniLED-3D unit. Your miniLED technology for 4K is perfect for finally displaying 3D the way it was meant to be. Also, please, consider using passive glasses -- they work fine in IMAX, they will work well for your customers.

Thank you.

yeah that does my head in as well.

each manufacturer could have one lower priced 3d passive set like 600-1000 value

and stick 3D on the premium models too

odd how in any high end samsung since 2015 they still have 3d mode as options in service mode - wonder if a software update would activate it

I've suspected as much. The TVs still have 3D (why reinvent the wheel when your chip sets are already made?). They've just disabled 3D in firmware to push the 4K agenda. Bastids.

I think you need more than just a chipset for 3D. I think you need an actual panel capable of displaying the 3D.

Nope. There's a device you can buy that will display 3D on any HDTV. It has some issues, apparently with HDMI 2.0 that 2.1 will supposedly solve, but it's just a matter of alternating images at twice the frame rate and using the lenses to block the alternating image (sync signal to shutters).

I actually own the 3D Video Wizard. It's not true 3D. I've compared to my actual 3D display and the differences are night and day (to me). I know that our good friend Joe D. has had good success with it and I trust him on that but my experiences differ.

Too bad plug and play devices that convert 2D sets to 3D are just about out of circulation as well. Would have served to help introduce many to 3D. I have this one in my den and it does a very good job, about a 7.5 out of ten compared to my actual Sony 3D monitor. Then when one was ready, they could have upgraded to an actual 3D monitor and experience the full impact.

The 2015 active samsung j series were good, though in 2017 you could get sony zd9 tv and pana ex750 which are good tvs, a few reports of ghosting on the zd9 though

Passive on 4k 3d is best for me

Other than LG Oled, who else offers passive 4K 3D?
