Slightly OT but still Walmart related:

I’ve been trying to get a grocery item that isn’t in my area anymore. I constantly check Walmart website. I changed my zip code to an area a few hours away.. and this item was available online for shipping to that zip code… but not in store.

I thought oh cool it’s in stock online, I can have it mailed to me. So I put my own zip code back in and suddenly the item is out of stock online. I put the few hours away zip code back in, the item can be shipped there.

Is there a reason why an item shows out of stock online for one zip, but shows available to ship to another? And, yes, it says “Walmart.com” as the seller and shipper, not a third party.

It’s probably one of those ship from store situations where they get someone from like doordash or similar service to that. Does the checkout indicate the type of shipping that is being used? I think they have it described a bit different than the standard way. The item may also only be available in stores (no warehouses has them at the moment), so they just use the store delivery thing.

Here’s how it looks on the website when I enter the zip code a few hours away. The item comes up in stock for delivery only (not in store) for $3.72 or something directly from Walmart.com



I have no idea what shipping they use. A friend was in that area yesterday and checked in store but they had nothing. I added 4 to my cart online. But it says add your address to see shipping costs and when I enter my real zip code, the items disappear from my cart and are no longer coming up in the search when I have my local Walmart set as my store.

The item only appears to ship when I enter the hours away zip code and select one of the Walmarts in that area as my store.

So I copied and pasted the url from the in stock item and switched it back to my local zip code.. and the only option to buy it is for $13 from a third party:

If you click on availability near by, does it show any store near that zipcode with stock? Only thing I can think is that it’s either coming from a store within shipping distance to be able to ship/deliver in that zip area, but not yours; or the regional warehouse where it would come from doesn’t cover your zip, but it does that other zipcode.

Nope. Says out of stock for both Walmarts for that zip code. And like I said before, I had a friend who was in that area check the Walmarts for that item (in case the website was lying) and there was nothing.

It's been over two years since my Walmart had a decent in-store selection. There's zero reason to go there anymore.

I visited a Walmart in Dixon CA that had steelbooks on clearance. I found two on the shelf with yellow sticker for 4.88 and found 4 in the dvd bin they rang up for 5 $

It is what the picture that Rickety shared, but I also got the Mondo Reservoir Dogs for $5 and Sicario with the clear slip.

BTW it doesn't have to have the yellow sticker to be on sale, I got multiple ones from the bin and there wasn't a sticker saying they are on sale but the App did say they were $5 when I scanned the Barcode.

How often do you visit your local store? Any idea if they've had these out since November/December and they just weren't selling so they put them on clearance? Or is this a new finding at your store?

Just got back from 2 Wal-Marts in central Illinois. Nothing like this at all. May be store-specific.

Then again, all the stores around here have those steelbooks in the $7.50 bins not priced out on shelves.

This is not my local store, It is around 40 miles from home. My guess is they just did not sell.
