Decided to make a dedicated thread for hentai releases as they tend to not get mentioned in any of the other threads. I probably won't make mention of Adult Source Media's monthly sex scene compilation DVDs though. The hentai market is largely just Kitty Media at this point. Critical Mass Video was re-releasing their catalog on Blu-ray starting in April 2019 with Anyone You Can Do...I Can Do Better!, but then that stopped for a while after HypnoLove in February 2021 until Stepmother's Sin late this year. The Critical Mass Video label is now owned by Adult Source Media following Crunchyroll buying RightStuf. Who knows if we'll see more Blu-ray re-releases from them.

Yeah don't really remember the sequel but the original is one of the more brutal horror hentai (and early mahou shoujho hentai) that asks just how much punishment can a magical girl's body take? ( a LOT apparently ) And unfortunately for the non magical girls of the show asks the same of them (in their case not much ).

That's the kind of title I'm not into, so good to know. I'm more into the more "vanilla hentai" titles where things are also consensual. Though I am interested in checking out La Blue Girl, Night Shift Nurses, and Urotsukidoji due to their infamy.

D'oh, managed to forget to put RACS on there, even with their used section, added them to the OP. I also decided to put down the companies that released stuff in the past so one can look at all their releases. I'm very close to getting everything in, it's mainly Adult Source Media and NuTech Digital where there's still missing releases. I also need to get the mods to add Happy Carrot to the studios list so I can switch all four releases to them in the database.

Also how is Adult DVD Marketplace? There's OOP releases I've wanted to get but with the Amazon Marketplace and eBay often not allowing stuff to be sold there, I'm at a bit of a loss of where to get them.

I have not, this includes my open order from RightStuf which is paid for and an order I placed last week, though that order all has OOP items so there's no guarantee it'll be fulfilled (Destined For Love Volume 2, both releases of Naughty Nurses, the CMV release of Countdown Akira, Urotsukidoji movie combo pack). None of the items had an "In Stock" notice, though the Urotsukidoji Movie now displays "Out Of Stock" and the CMV release of Countdown Akira has been delisted (the link for it now redirects to the Kitty Media release). They are apparently shipping stuff out everyday however, and there's boxes, though no idea what the packaging is like inside.

RACS also has a hentai streaming service. I haven't tried it yet. It would probably be a good way to try before one buys. Has anybody tried it yet?

So speaking of hentai releases. Is there a reason why Ladies vs Butlers Undressed is under the Kitty label for Media Blaster? I watched it and the only thing that I guess that would put it under that label would be the mini episodes which honestly didn't seem bad.

There doesn't seem to be stuff that one would consider 18+?

I got the Ringetsu BD from them yesterday which shipped in a small box with bubblewrap so that was nice. Still waiting on several Critical Mass DVDs from a separate order though.

It's a great place to get OOP titles at reasonable prices. It is a marketplace so they only collect the funds and the seller ships the items so it definitely pays to check the seller reviews and consolidate purchases from as few sellers as possible to save on shipping charges. Recommend checking out what each seller has to offer by clicking on their profile and selecting the Hentai publishers to see what they have in stock. With ebay's adult marketplace gone and Amazon being what it is I'd highly recommend them. Purchased quite a few older titles from there without issues.

I had to complain to find out where my order was. They set up the new account at BuyAnime but my order wasn't there. So i had to go back and forth to finally get them to find the order. It just did ship yesterday as well.

Yeah, 'Cool Devices' seemed like a much higher profile title than others that Critical Mass has chosen to upgrade to bluray. I was wondering if there was a reason they didn't. I'll definitely buy it if they do get around to upgrading it.

Don't ask me how I found this, but apparently, there is a label in Japan, Showten, that has been "remastering" old hentai releases in Japan. There are only three releases since May 2021 and obviously, they have mosaic censorship, but I felt a need to pass on the information.

The first is an OVA called Masquerade (1998-1999), which also comes with its sequel Masquerade 2 (2000-2001). The total runtime of the release is stated to be 229 minutes on one BD-50 with LPCM 2.0 audio and no subtitles. It was released on May 28th, 2021.

The second is an OVA called Words Worth (1999-2002). The total runtime of the release is stated to be 274 minutes on one BD-50 with LPCM 2.0 audio and no subtitles. Note that the jacket says this is 1080i and there is a one-star review on Amazon.co.jp which appears to say that only the credit sequences and the two 2002 episodes are in HD, while the original OVA episode content (1999-2000) is in SD. It was released on February 25th, 2022.

The third, upcoming release is Kite (1998) and Mezzo Forte (2000). This is the one that I initially found online and it will be released on December 23rd, 2022. Right now it claims to be 110 minutes, but I believe both uncut OVAs should be 120 minutes.

Masquerade and Words Worth are currently licensed by Kitty Media, so we could possibly get them. Kite, the license for that expired and unless Discotek enters the hentai market (unlikely), it'll remain OOP. Mezzo Forte was licensed by Kitty Media, then the license expired and was picked up by SoftCel Pictures in 2017 with both the uncut and edited versions (uncut is subbed-only, edited is dubbed-only), but the DVD is now OOP again. It won't surprise me if that gets rescued by Kitty Media.

The current Japanese Blu-rays for Kite and Mezzo Forte aren't good.

A Kite is a ****ing upscale. All of it. From composite masters. Plus it has these distracting logos in the side bars (easy enough for me to block with my video processor, but still a PITA). And for some reason, some pictures on a wall in once scene and a sign in another were blurred out (dunno if this blurring is present on the MB BD or not since I haven't seen it yet).

So it's actually worse than the MB BD. Overall, anyways. From what Kentai said in his review, the upscaled portions on the MB BD were worse than the DVD, so perhaps those scenes are better on the JP BD, but I haven't compared them.

Gah. When I preordered this, I assumed that it would be using the MB film scan with the adult scenes added in. That'll teach me to preorder a BD without confirming it won't be an upscale.

From the included preview, Mezzo Forte looks just as bad. Not that I was expecting it to look good since it was animated digitally (I assume).
