Quote:
An enterprising electronics engineer who goes by "Alsione" is developing an augmented reality (AR) program with the Microsoft HoloLens that lets you go on a date with the phenomenally popular Vocaloid star Hatsune Miku. As the video below demonstrates, it can not only simulate an appropriate (if strangely empty) environment for a date, but summon a seemingly 3-D model of Miku to go out with. (The model was originally created by Hakutory for the animation software MikuMikuDance.) Miku will look at you as you walk, climb up and down stairs, sit in chairs, and react to attempts to interact with her we see her get "stroked" with a single finger and kissed. Her face remains mostly expressionless until Alsione tries checking her out from a little too low of an angle...

Alsione has been fascinated with designing AR experiences with Miku for years. He originally posted the video below of a simpler date with Miku in 2012 and also designed a device that lets you "kiss" the idol. His first device was a self-made combination of an Xtion motion sensor with Vuzix Wrap 920 VR eyewear. His new date experience was stimulated by the Japanese release of the HoloLens this year; Alsione says it is "100 times more comfortable" than his own glasses and allows for a more "high-performance" Miku.

Virtual and augmented reality have advanced significantly in recent years and now allow for everything from Pokemon battles to sexual foreplay. Miku, perhaps due to her famous hologram, is often a subject of these experiences.

Happy 10th Birthday Miku

Quote:
Virtually every municipality in Japan has its own symbol that serves as a sort of logo or coat of arms. Due to the resemblance of its symbol to Hatsune Miku, the city of Chiba will change the logo on its website to the virtual idol for one day on August 31.

August 31st will mark the 10th anniversary of Crypton Future Media's original Hatsune Miku Vocaloid software. The transformation will mark the opening of a three-day Hatsune Miku event at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba on September 1. The collaboration will give away 3,000 tin badges to people who follow the city's official tourism social media accounts. The first 150 people to download the Chibab Asobi app and show it to staff at the city's booth at the event will also receive a clear folder.

Crypton Future Media is marking Hatsune Miku's anniversary with various projects. The virtual idol will also appear in the Idol Time PriPara video game starting on October 5. Sega's Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone DX game for PlayStation 4 will ship in Japan on November 22.

Now that I've listened to more, Zalas (hightrancesea) is becoming one of my favorite Vocaloid artists:

Houston...we have a problem.

Man, I was all set for the IA & ONE ARIA concert at Anime Matsuri this Friday and they cancelled it last night...found out when I checked my email this morning. This was the explanation link in the email:

https://m.facebook.com/AnimeMatsuri/...61933554055652

Sad right now, was really looking forward to it since the beginning of this year....

And this video was just put out earlier this week...

^^ To a small degree, I can empathize with ya buddy wrt shows cancelled.
I was at a Supertramp concert in Stuttgart, Germany in '82 and Joe Cocker was second billing.
Of course we all went to see 'Tramp but were curious what weird nonsense Joe would get up to.
Well, not to disappoint, Joe was so bloody wasted, he lasted HALF a song.
Then promptly collapsed unconscious on stage.
Everyone went nuts and we actually gave him a standing ovation as they literally dragged the drunk and stoned 200lb+ body off the stage.
Ah, such good times...
p.s. Tramp were outstanding! As we figured they would be.
