No hate for current Anime but I'll always have different view of releases from the 80s-90s since I grew up on it.

Here are some of my favs that haven't been mentioned yet. Still surprised that Battle Angel is finally making it to the big screen after a decade of speculation.

Golden Boy
Battle Angel Alita
Ranma 1/2
Star Blazers

I grew up in the late 90s and early 00s. My first experiences with anime was through Toonami and Adult Swim.

I have fond memories of watching stuff like Dragonball, Yu Yu Hakusho, Trigun, Outlaw Star, Fullmetal Alchemist, Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Lupin III, Sailor Moon, Ronin Warriors, Tenchi Muyo, .hack, Zoids and Gundam Wing on TV.

Nowadays I still enjoy watching this stuff and finding new things from the 90s and going farther back to the 80s and 70s. Still a lot of stuff I wish would get HD treatment on disc out here. I don't watch a ton of modern anime unless it's related to one of my favorites.

Golgo 13: The Professional is definitely one of my favorites from this era. It got a nice-looking Blu-Ray release from Discotek a couple years ago, which was actually its HD debut! (As far as I can tell Japan still hasn't gotten it.)

How did you see Lensmen? From what I know, it's not readily available anywhere.

This was released in the U.S. on VHS and LD in the early 90s.

So we are doing Retro night for a friend's bday party in a few weeks. Is Angel Cop worth getting now hoping it arrives by then? So far I am bringing Riding Bean, Devilman OVA, and BGC.

I'd prefer the ones you listed before putting Angel Cop on the field.

Ok, since we're shamelessly posting pics of old anime we like:

The Five Star Stories

The Venus Wars

Super Dimension Century Orguss and Orguss 02

(I really like Orguss.)

Kamui no Ken

Hokuto no Ken

The Heroic Legend of Arslan (The OG one.)

Hen

Vampire Hunter

War in the Pocket

(Shin) Kimagure Orange Road

Armored Trooper Votoms

Arcadia of my Youth

Urusei Yatsura

Maison Ikkoku

Old posters from back in the day. There's a local animart that specialized in this weird thing called "anime" back in the mid 80's that I frequented when I was a kid. It was family run, and the husband supposedly had a treasure trove of stuff in a basement somewhere and stuff just sat there for decades. Fast forward to a few years ago, and the husband was convinced to start selling some of this stuff at the local anime convention out here in San Jose, Fanime. They'll have two binders full of trading card sleeves, which are filled with little photo copies of the utterly vast inventory of posters. I easily spent just over $500 in just posters, as they usually sell for $10-$50 a piece. (Arcadia of my Youth was $80,but I had to have it.) I never see these old posters for sale, and a bought doubles of the Orange Road and Ikkoku that they had.

Just like with cels, these old posters are kind of passed over by the current fandom. As I was making a rather impressive stack of the little cards, at least 15 people came by, looked through the other binder, and as soon as they realized there was nothing from Toonami in there, the binder closed and they walked away. It's kind of like how a lot of people don't know that WWE used to be WWF, and that anime used to be made by hand, painted on a piece of plastic.
