My wife is thinking to get a Kindle, and I have 2 questions:

1. Can you download books from various Amazons (US, CA, UK, JP, etc) using a single Kindle?

2. Does 1 Kindle have to be set to only 1 Amazon account? Can I use the Kindle for my books, and my wife use the same Kindle for her books with 2 separate accounts?

1. No you cannot. Only Amazon US.

2. I believe it can only be set to one account but I could be wrong.

Is it not possible to change accounts by re-setting the Kindle to Amazon Japan or UK, or another person's account?

Once the Kindle is set, there must be a way to reset it, or else how would you be able to sell it used?

I dunno. I wiped mine when I sold my HD. I wouldn't want to take the risk.

Amazon Kindle has an offer where you can buy a Kindle and pay over 5 monthly payments. This is a great deal if you want a new Kindle. Terms and conditions apply. Log into your Amazon account for more information.

I got an email this morning that due to a settlement with the major book publishers over past Kindle purchases I have a $10.72 credit in my Amazon account that can be used for any Kindle or print book purchase. It's not a lot of money but it's still nice to get some money for doing nothing.

I got a credit also. Glad it actually went through.

"Only" $4.63 for me but it was enough for me to finally get the overpriced-since-I-already-have-it-in-paperback-form novella THE COLORADO KID by Stephen King for eleven cents! I've been watching for it to drop below $4 for ages, but now I don't have to anymore!

My Kindle Paperwhite crapped out on me. I just purchased it in November and it worked fine on Sunday night but when I tried to turn it on Monday night nothing happened. I did a chat with someone with Amazon tech support and he asked a couple questions but nothing fixed it so Amazon is sending me a replacement Paperwhite with next day shipping at no cost.

To be honest, I find I'm reading eBooks less and less now on my Kindle; so many aren't readily available, and the others I'm interested in are incredibly expensive with barely any drop in price. Amazon have gotten flak for their handling recently, too, which has left a sour taste in my mouth.

I agree completely! Today I deleted over 60 books that I know I will never read. Also, I too wait for price drops that will probably never happen for years. My solution is to start buying DTB's, they have gone down in price if you have noticed.

I'm reading my first ebook borrowed from the library. Choosing the kindle option, it takes you to Amazon and you download it from there for the 3 week rental. (I think different library systems have different loan periods.) While I don't like the "ticking clock" aspect of knowing it will disappear from the kindle at the end of the loan period with no renewal option, it's very convenient. The local library has been very slow or unable to get new books due to budget issues. I think getting the ebooks comes out cheaper for them with less manual work involved.

I am thinking about purchasing a Kindle or asking for one for Christmas. I would like to read more and the Kindle seems to be ideal in terms of affordability and storage.

The main factor I am using in my final decision is the quality of the books in terms of the versions offered. For example, are the "public" versions, such as the one I have listed below any good or no?

It is true that you can get a lot of public domain books for free, such as classics. However, these books are usually edited and uploaded by volunteers, and often contain spelling or other formatting errors. Some people don't mind them, but if you are interested in the classics you may want to look at Bantam books on Kindle. That is where I got most of my classics, and they have a lot of great titles to choose from. They are/were very affordable, around $2 each and they are published by a professional book publisher. I hope that helps.

Found out my new job provides an hour a half a day mandatory for lunches and breaks and since my phone has shite battery, decided to pick up a Kindle. Picked up just the standard one because it was like fifty pounds as apposed to the "paper white" which was like seventy pound more for... higher resolution? But it's just text? Dunno what to start reading first...

My Kindle Paperwhite died on me last night. I've had 2 Kindle Paperwhites now, with the first lasting about 8 months and this one lasting about 10 months. Neither of them have ever never gotten wet or been dropped, I always keep them on my night stand. Last time when my Kindle died they sent me a new one because it was still under warranty so I'm hoping that happens again. I'm not sure if it would still be under warranty since the Kindle is less than a year old but I bought the original over a year ago, so I'll find out when I call support tonight.
