When it comes to Jon Pertwee's first season box, I wonder if they will just stick the original Spearhead from Space blu back in with new disc art or whether they will create a whole new disc to combine all the features.
Another random thought I had was regarding the fact they are intending to use the new logo to identify all of Doctor Who from classic to the recent series. I wonder if they will re-release the 2005 onwards series with new packaging. |

I imagine the first three seasons of Pertwee will be left till very late in the range. The last two seasons don't present too many issues with a new restoration. Only really Invasion of the Dinosaurs 1 to really overcome as well as a new pass on Planet of the Daleks 3 (in addition to the normal restoration to all other stories). The first three Pertwee seasons are an absolute minefield though. Loads of varying sources and quality. Just take a look at this page which details how a full colour set of three seasons is pieced together. If the range is successful they have also said they would like to handle the new series. The Restoration Team have also indicated that four box sets a year would be the maximum possible so I'd rather they handled the easy to do sets for now and get Season 10-26 out the way before moving on the more problematic B&W and Pertwee seasons. |

Interesting comments from PV on the latest RFS podcast - basically confirms that there are definitely some missing episodes in the hands of private collectors. Nothing we didn't suspect but the first time I've heard it confirmed by anyone at Paul's level.
http://www.radiofreeskaro.com/2018/0...8-london-1965/ Interview starts at around the 37m mark. |

I would imagine we're likely talking about a handful of orphaned episodes. Thought the timeframe talk was quite interesting too - a 15 month window, and if Sue Malden had started her work 15 months earlier we’d have complete runs of Evil, Power, Fury etc. |

An alternative is that there’s a chance this information is going to come out soon via another route (for example, a print coming up for sale), and Mr V doesn’t want to appear to have been caught by surprise with new information; “Well, naturally I knew the whole time but couldn’t say anything…”. I hope that’s not the case, but human nature means it’s a possibility. Back to the positive options though… It’s long been rumoured that a film collector in the UK has The Reign of Terror 4 & 5. The other most persistent rumours would have it that The Tenth Planet 4 and an episode or two of The Daleks’ Master Plan are held by UK collectors, and that Marco Polo is complete in the hands of an Australian collector. If there’s anything to these rumours, it would mean that among the most likely recoveries from collectors are the nine missing episodes of Season 1. If these could be obtained, I’m sure a Season 1 boxset would be fast-tracked for release. Still just a dream for now though. |

The Daleks’ Master Plan by rights should be the most unlikely to have any returns. It wasn't sold overseas, and I don't think a film recording was even made for episode 7.
Yet now we've had 3. Go figure. Sometimes what is returned makes no logical sense. |

If anything it's why I wish Phil Morris had kept quiet about Web 3, so that if it turns up then it's a nice surprise to have the story finally complete. As it is it's a bit of a hard one to watch now, knowing the episode is out there, but not knowing if it will actually be returned. Some things are better left unknown and not revealed by the likes of Morris and Vanezis (for who I grateful admire I should point out). But in some was it was more satisfying not knowing that we could be sitting here with Power of the Daleks, Fury from the Deep, the Macra Terror if Sue Malden had come along 15 months earlier. |

Phil Morris coming out with the tale of finding Web of Fear 3 and then losing it is a strange one indeed. Why say anything? No one need ever have known!
Personally, I wouldn't despair over Sue Malden missing out on episodes. How much more would be lost if she had come along 15 months later instead? |

The 15 month thing stings a bit doesn't it. Obviously no sleight against Sue, just wish she'd have been in place a bit sooner to do what she did.
Only thing to really add about Paul is that he went out of his way here to bring up the Collectors point. When the question was posed re missing episodes it was literally an obligatory question that you could almost hear wasn't expecting any substantive reply, but yet then we had Paul being very forthcoming - Paul's not beyond trolling on occasion, with mischievous comments that he knows will be parsed every which way to Sunday, but listening to the interview, it really doesn't feel like that. Hopefully it means something may happen sooner or later, or, perhaps they just caught Paul on a really good day. A complete series one would be a dream come true. Re the Web 3 reveal - it wasn't asked as such, he more or less just divulged it as he was talking through the timeline of the Jos find. |

Just an additional "FYI" concerning collectors with missing episodes, this one slipped my mind before; another rumour that has been around for decades is that a UK collector has prints of The Invasion 1 and 4.
Incidentally, the latest Doctor Who Magazine has a nice article on the restoration and extras for the Season 12 boxset. |

According to Zoom and HMV, this set has now been pushed back to 2nd July.
I'm all for wanting to ensure this set goes through smoothly, but after being delayed once already, I can't help but feel this is a bit ridiculous. It's now a 3 week delay since the original release date. ![]() |

As it happens the delay is good for me. I am moving house so want to wait until I have the new big 4K TV before watching this set which I will likely have by then ![]() |

A quick look at the DVD’s show that The Ark in Space is missing the alternative titles, TARDIS-Cam, Doctor Forever! – Love & War, Scene Around Six, Coming Soon trailer. Genesis of the Daleks loses The Dalek Tapes. Revenge of the Cybermen loses the Coming Soon trailer.
I do find it odd that Robot contains the Coming Soon trailer for Ark in Space but none of the others are present. |

Having said that it seems DWM have also accidentally missed out a few extras. According to Richard Bignell on the Gallifrey Base forum, the only things missing will be:
So, the Dalek Tapes will be included, plus the alternative titles have been moved from the Ark in Space to Robot. And in the case of the coming soon trailer, it may well be that other than the Ark in Space they just don't exist anymore, either as an off-air audio recording or the original footage, hence why none of the others are included. (The Revenge of the Cybermen one is a coming soon DVD trailer, not an original TV one.) |
