Anime, in NA at least (and I suspect Europe), is usually niche marketable at best. There are MANY titles that we are still waiting for good upscales in Blu, let alone 4K, so don't see it becoming a focus any time soon.
It may happen but I don't think I'll be holding off on any purchases to await it (well I wont be anyway, as I'm not 4K ready for any shows yet or expect to be in the foreseeable future).
I mean even in Japan there arent that many 4k anime discs and probably wont be for reasons already stated.

And the ones already out are a mixed bag. Some are good (GitS 1, Gundams, Mary and the Witch’s Flower, Kimi no na wa), but the majority of catalog titles aren’t (Space Adventure Cobra, Ashita no Joe 2, GitS 2, and so on).

What was up with GitS 2? I have it but haven't even watched it yet

4K "is" nice.. but even before 2K and 4K remasters, you had stellar blu-ray releases. Combine that with your typical 65" to 80" HDTV, and while I "can" see a difference (specifically the BLADE RUNNER 4K disc) it is not that big a difference for me to spend more money.

It really sucks that Real 3D has sunk so low that manufacturers no longer even include it on TVs anymore, even though it's just a program and they could offer a special order for anyone who wants it (pay an extra $100 and they slap in the chip). 3D is a unique visual format that offers a completely new way to watch something, whereas 4K is just more detail on a 2D format that already looks amazing.

But to keep it on topic, does anyone else feel that the VAMPIRE HUNTER D: BLOODLUST blu-ray release is sub par and needs a serious remaster?

They're releasing TWILIGHT OF THE COCKROACHES on dvd? As in "dvd ONLY"? Is there a reason they won't release it on blu-ray?

And per Bobo1313's comment, I would love to see GALL FORCE on blu-ray. Still have the series box set.

TOTC has a BD release, so I'm confused as to why they are releasing that on DVD instead of just going with a BD, as they are walking away from DVD.

I wouldn't ever buy a Discotek dvd at this point. They have a history of releasing the dvd version initially and shortly after release the bd version. I'm still kicking myself after robot carnival and galaxy express999

Then sell the DVD copy on eBay and put it towards the Blu-ray?

Dude. They used to be DVD only for a while, now they do BD as well on every new release (that’s suitable for BD).

So, no. They don’t do that anymore. Buy with confidence instead of being like so.

*sign* Genma Taisen (Harmageddon) is available on blu in Japan with no English subs. Limited Blu-ray Box set of City Hunter (U.S.$450) and no English subs (1/19). At least KOR and Galaxy Express will tide me over. Now I gotta go see about Hyper police!

I'm glad that Twilight of the Cockroaches has finally escaped out of VHS limbo. I like to see Wild 7 OVA, Hell's Target, Techno Police 21C, Psycho Diver, and Raven Tengu Kabuto OVA outside of VHS for once.

Nope. The VHD Bloodlust blu is a significant video and audio quality upgrade over the old Urban Vision DVD. Honestly, I’m happy with what we’ve got. It’s an exceptional release.

Probably comes down to a materials issue. I’m just happy to see it, in any case.

Well they might not want to take the risk, TOTC is a pretty obscure title, maybe they don't think it's a smart move spending the extra money for bluray. Could also be Japanese studio shenanigans or something else.
