In addition to those, I want to see what Japanese extras they could get that FUNi & ADV didn't get.

I know one of them was a anniversary music video that was in one of the show's R2 DVD box sets.

Went ahead and preordered Ghost Stories and the New Fist of the North Star movie. They both release at the end of February and together they come in at just over 50 dollars, for the the free shipping.

I get a new debit card next month, so ill need to update the card info next month, thats easy to do on Rightstuf ? Never had to update card info on there before.

I had to update my card recently and it was sort of a pain. I thought that by updating my credit card on the site that maybe my prior orders would still go through, but I started getting emails that one or more orders were in danger of being canceled if I didn't correct it within 3 days I think. So I contacted customer service and told them I need to update my credit card, but it only got updated for the one order. I needed to contact them again with the order number for every open order I had (20+ at the time).

The second Crunchyroll loses the license, Discotek should scoop it up.

FUNimation has essentially a death grip on anything it still has in the streaming era, so don't get your hopes up. They still somehow have like Moeyo Ken TV which was never popular and is now very obscure (probably less than 10 people on this forum have even heard of it, much less watched it), and also Comic Party: Revolution which was removed from their site like 6 years ago but popped out of nowhere on Crunchyroll. Both have been OOP on DVD for ages. Moeyo Ken TV went OOP almost 10 years ago now.

I'd love it if they did, it's a personal favorite.

Frankly, Crunchyroll losing the license to any of these older DVD only titles is probably a good thing in the long run. They aren't going to do anything else with them, not even release them on BD when better masters are available. If I ever want to see, say, Armitage III on BD, I pretty much have to hope that CR loses the license and someone else gets it. Much less if it's something that requires extra work and care, like The Slayers.

Some of them might disappear into limbo, but frankly, a lot of the DVD only titles they've kept in print are noteworthy enough to merit attention from someone else, especially when BD upgrades are on the table. That's the whole reason CR's hung on to things like The Slayers in the first place; otherwise the licenses would have expired years ago.

The thing is, in cases like that, do we know whether they actually still have DVD rights? Couldn't they be paying a smaller amount to maintain a streaming only license, and the reason we simply haven't seen them released by someone else is that there's no one that considers them worth releasing?

They definitely didn't keep a death grip on Negima; them losing that was how Sentai was able to release the franchise on BD.

We've seen very few FUNimation titles expire over the past decade. Most of what expired were licensed from Aniplex Japan and TMS Entertainment when they blocked multiple companies from renewing their titles because Aniplex Japan wanted to work exclusively with Aniplex USA and TMS Entertainment wanted to work almost exclusively with Discotek Media.

Sounds a bit annoying but I only have that 1 order so not too big an issue, thanks.

Episode 39 "The Battle for Earth" on the 3rd disc when the Digidestined unite their Digivices to return to the Digital World, the scene where the light emerges to take them back, incorrect footage plays with the fight from VenomMyotismon earlier in the episode like it was spliced in. It's strange as the audio from the correct scene still plays over it. Kind of curious how it happened, it's almost like the episode was recieved that way but the previous DVD set doesn't have this error, making me even more confused
Absolutely avoiding this Blu now until this gets addressed.

Has Gunbuster gotten an official release date yet?

Did we ever get any more news on the Urusei Yatsura TV series?

I’ll check my set later on this week. When I get time.

I had to do that with 30 orders one time when my card company decided during the pandemic it’s customers needed to be able to tap the card. Which changed the security code and expiration date. It’s a very time consuming issue for both the customer and CS when it happens. If they would just let you change the payment on the orders yourself or start using PayPal’s automatic payment setup it would be great. Nope have to call CS and when you order way to much it means a bunch of time spent dealing with the consequences of your actions. It was even more a pain because some orders they could not change until they attempted to ship. So I had to wait or cancel the rest of the order. Which I just canceled was part of the reason I got an email saying I was canceling to much.

I'm not expecting any UY release date until at least middle of next year, considering how long the series is. Of course, Discotek has surprised me before in how fast they pump out long series.

It's possible that Funi went the route of getting streaming-only licenses when it came time to renew, and if they did then it is definitely bad news for physical releases.
1. By streaming it provides a cheap way for people to watch it, decreasing the demand for a physical release by whatever amount.
2. If Funi isn't seeing big enough numbers on streaming to even *want* the physical rights, then isn't that a pretty good sign that other companies would be wasting their time getting those rights?

As much as I want discotek to license the anime that interests me the most, they need to make sure they're making a satisfactory profit. They need to be confident there is demand for their products.

Sogo Ishii's Electric Dragon 80000V is getting a UK BD next year. I don't know how it did on DVD for Discotek but I hope it ends up in the Nihon Nights line.

Okay, kids - question time! Today's Megadeal includes both seasons of Hajime No Ippo The Fighting and I'm soliciting opinions on a potential blind buy. It's been on my C-Tier, "I might get around to it someday" list for a while, and now that I knocked out my other "eh, maybe someday" title on the list (GE999), the sale right now is turning my head.

Now, for a point of reference, I enjoy the hell out of Rocky and Creed, both when it's serious drama (like Rocky VI) and when it's goofy as hell (Where Rocky wins the cold war by punching Communism in the face). I also enjoy sports anime like Princess Nine or more over the top shows like Initial D (where a 30 second race takes three episodes to complete) - so this sounds like it should be right up my alley, but I thought I'd put the question to the peanut gallery for your thoughts on the show.

If you enjoy Rocky, you're sure to love Ippo. It has its moments of locker room silliness, but the boxing matches are intense stuff with a real sense of weight and power. There's training montages, rivalries, personal life struggles, and plenty of cliffhangers, but it tends toward exaggerated realism instead of straight up sports anime superpowers.

You're in for a great time.
