A collective THANK YOU to everybody who put a lot of 'input' into the Turbine SMDM blu-ray release. My biggest concern was with quality 'encoding' and from the screen grabs that've been uploaded to the server, it is obvious that the encoding was done well. Compression is what it is; but I have seen some blu-ray releases with blu-ray bitrate 'norms' bury themselves on a 'bad' encode. Apparently, not the case here. I'm sure I will enjoy this when it arrives. SMDM was my favorite television drama 'as a child' and I had the biggest crush on Lindsay Wagner too.

This release can "currently" be obtained for:
€68.90 EUR — on Amazon.de
€04.50 — shipping / US destination
€73.40 — total / $87.25 USD

The price adjusts to the above amounts when you go to checkout.
https://www.amazon.de/The-Six-Millio...A3JWKAKR8XB7XF

1080p is ultimately better than 480i NTSC and 576i PAL, even with compression. It's affordably priced and it's region free... a no brainer for SMDM fans and blu-ray collectors - until something 'more expensive' comes along.

Still waiting for my copy and I had even pre-ordered. Guess I'll serve myself up another helping of patience.

The doll collection brings back memories. From left to right, I had the 4th, 5th and 8th doll. I also had the repair station/rocket. I wanted the bionic Bigfoot but we couldn't afford it when I was younger. Bigfoot cost more because he was larger than the other dolls.

Please tell me you acquired the repair station/rocket. No SMDM memorabilia toy collection would be complete without that needed necessity.

I would be having blu-ray withdrawals if I didn't have anxiety waiting for an incoming blu-ray order. Amazon.de says mine isn't expected to arrive until sometime around the 11th - 17th of January.

Finally got my copy today. Two discs in each of the cases had come off the hubs while in transit. Sounded like a baby rattle before I opened it up. Only one of the discs looked scratched. It really looked scratched up. Surprisingly it wiped clean. Breathed a sigh of relief. Would have been no fun having to put in for an exchange for this.

The hubs that stack 2 discs in that box for both sets come off really easily when moved around in the case.. they should of made them thicker.

I could tell by the German review video you posted earlier that the reviewer was commenting on poor disc packaging, even though I don’t speak German it was pretty easy to follow. I hope my set arrives in one piece.

I am very impressed by 9 episodes on a disc with no compression faults at all like mill creek does with a puny 6 episodes lol.

I just finished creating an initial profile for this in DVD Profiler for those interested in checking it out. Once I contribute the profile I'll be converting it over to English for use locally in addition to adding profiles for each season and for each disc. That being said, while looking over the boxset I did notice something I wanted to share. For those that don't read German. While the episode guide (booklet) that comes with this is in German, each episode title includes the English naming as well in addition to the original date the episode aired in the US. Very nice of them to include these things, especially the English episode titles. Will be a timesaver for me when going to work up my own episode guide in English.

Perhaps. After all, we have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic Blu-ray case, a Blu-ray case that is so strong it can hold 6 discs without them becoming dislodged inside the case while in transit!

I just finished cataloging this release with the exception of the cover art which I'll be working on this evening. At the very least I'll be working up improved images for the boxset as a whole in addition to scanning the physical cover art that came with this for the disc level profiles I worked up. I may also improve upon the episode descriptions. I haven't even looked them over. Using what's posted over at TV.com at present.

It was a bit tricky to catalog this due to the nature of the release. Aside from it being a German release, several of the discs carry over from one season to the next. There's also no English episode title treatment within the Blu-ray menus or when watching the actual episodes, so I wanted to account for that as well. So while the seasons weren't organized separately within this release I cataloged the release that way anyway. Made the most sense. See below.

Since I don't read German I made sure to follow the numbering convention per disc as seen from the Blu-ray menus throughout. And while the Episode Guides I worked up are in English, I'm mirroring how the title treatment was done with the booklet. Should make things easier when watching this, i.e. the given episode title in German first, then in English after that within parentheses. Also, for the profile that represents the boxset as a whole I decided to include an Episode Guide as well which I don't usually do. To keep the profile in check though I only included Cast and Crew details for the Pilot movies and Reunion movies. (Please chime in if you find any German to English translations that can be improved upon.)

In any event, probably more than anyone was really interested in knowing. :-P Took the better part of today and yesterday to get this knocked out. Time well spent in the end I think. Just thought I'd share. For those interested, click here to view the profile for the boxset as a whole. To view this release within the structure shown above just hit up the link to my DVD/Blu-ray collection below in my forum signature. (Not mobile device friendly. Best viewed using a conventional desktop or laptop with an Internet browser that supports old school frames. If using a mobile device I'd suggest a press and hold of the given profile you'd like to view choosing the option to view the page in a new tab. Works well.)

Here a bit more:

Quote:
While these Blu-rays are in 1080P the bitrate are low (up to ten 49-minite episodes on each BD disc), the image - which was shot in 35mm - looks very pleasing in HD with a high level of detail and plenty of depth. There are some occasional anomalies but they were few and far between and I was impressed with the original 1.33:1 visuals - towering over SD with each Blu-ray disc containing about 4.5 hours of entertainment content.

I got this release cataloged in My Movies yesterday as well. Ended the night watching the first couple TV movies on Disc 1.

(Click on the image above to view my online profile for the box set as a whole.)

I'm projecting this at 150 inches diagonal. The presentation had no where to run and no where to hide at this image size. Quality presentation all around. What an awesome way to revisit this since my original viewings of the TV show back in the 70s and 80s. Classic TV shows on Blu-ray for the win!
