I think it may be the standard Soundtrack release with the score and movie version of the insert/theme songs. The separate “Complete Version” release doesn’t have the film score, but has the longer version of each insert/theme song, and the English version of “Is There Still Anything That Love Can Do?“

Given that the soundtrack is limited to the NA Collector’s Edition, the UK Steelbook release, and the the first numbered run of Zavvi Exclusive UK Collector’s Edition, it would be nice if they added the English version of “Is There Still Anything That Love Can Do?“ to the Soundtrack CD.

Well: The German UHD (not English friendly) retails for approx 35€ as a Steelbook.

Perhaps because the German Steelbook could have shipping restrictions to other countries? Amazon.de currently cannot ship the German 4K to the US or Japan, but this may be COVID-19 related. While 4K Blu-ray is region free, Germany and the EU are Region B for 2K Blu-ray, so the Japanese can’t use the 2K Blu-ray without a region free Blu-ray Player.

Thanks for clarifying that for me. Perhaps I'll wait and see if the collectors edition might go on sale down the road. Just a little too rich for my blood at this point.

I was going to ask about that CD that's included(in the other thread), I've been listening to two tracks from this thing for a couple days now.

Huh. It has an audio descriptive track. I've never seen that on an anime before. Also, I'm not too worried since I almost never keep slips.

The Wind Rises's North American 2014 Touchstone/Disney Blu-ray release has a English Audio Description track.

The sticker could peel off easily. Not all of them are a pain to remove.

Dolby Vision? Huh. That's unusual, as the Japanese UHD was only HDR10...

Possibly an error, but if true, it's certainly interesting.

This, particularly shortly after release. The Rotten Tomatoes sticker on Tokyo Godfathers came off very easily, zero damage or residue. I just removed the stickers from all my Shout! Factory slipcovers, some I've had for more than a year, and zero issues. The only one that's a problem is Penguin Highway which I got a few months ago, it doesn't want to come off.

If only lightly shrinkwrapping the slipcover was standard so stickers would be on the shrinkwrap, sadly only Discotek does that.

Viz has started doing this recently too. Stickers are on the plastic on their Pokemon, Bleach and InuYasha sets.

I had difficulty with Penguin Highway's sticker as well, (even now I think it still has some residue), and I think I bought it last year, if not early this year.

On the other subject, if Weathering With You really does have Dolby Vision, it will be interesting to see how that differs and if there are any other differences from the Japanese UHD.

I'm just going to say it supposedly will. The writer of the site(Of which I made as a link in the text I wrote with the info) says that Shout! provided them the information. This was the first time I, or anyone has heard about this information. Guess we're gonna have to toss it in the air just in case. By the same guy as the twitter pics posted about earlier today.

I was not aware of that. Thanks for telling me.

Agreed. It'll be especially interesting to know whether or not it has the horrid edge enhancement that's on the JP UHD.

IMO 31.4GB for a the encode of a 114 minute film with two DTS-HD MA tracks (and a DVS track of negligible bitrate) is reasonable enough for a domestic release. Not optimal, but still OK.

The JP release was 36GB and had a video bit rate of 35 Mbps, so I'll wager that the GKIDS/Shout release will be ±30 Mbps.

I mean, it's pretty close to the sizes of Akira, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Castle in the Sky, and Spirited Away, all of which are either even closer to or past the two-hour mark and look great on Blu-ray, for a 112-minute film so I'm optimistic. Also, not for nothing but the digital version of the dub looks excellent in motion and I saw none of the issues (edge enhancement, banding, and jaggies) typically associated with streaming compression so I'd guess the Blu-ray is likely going to look even better.
