It has a slightly higher bitrate but it's still the same horrible DNR'd master.

Shout Factory has this streaming/digital in the US and is the same transfer.

Not a good sign for a US release IMHO.

Clearly this film has been permanantly T2'd and will never look any good.

I hate DNR, but I found this to be quite watchable compared to T2 as there is still a decent amount of detail visible and the Color grading is excellent, overall it’s worth it if under $10

Agreed. My eyes found the alleged issues a little on the exaggerated side.

We were lucky to get a remaster of this at all and a local BD release as the DVD uses an ancient master that is much inferior than the new one.

Watched the German disc last night. The good thing is, aside from the packaging, it's completely english friendly - multiple english audio tracks, optional english subtitles (despite not mentioning them on the outer case) plus all on screen text like location markers and opening/closing crawls are all the original burnt-in english.

Presentation wise, yep, it's processed shit. But it's an HD image and perfectly watchable (in a fittingly ugly, grimy sorta way) on 65" screen. The most obnoxious thing about the presentation IMO is the occasional banding, which someone else also mentioned being an issue on the Aussie disc.

Nice to be able to ditch the 'orrible DVD though, finally.

Second Sight release has new extras and is a new restoration from the 2K scan - so hopefully less processing/DNR.

Shout is now dropping a US Blu-ray, no specs released. Curiouser and curiouser...
