Default blu ray (bd) special features

I am new to and I am really interested to know if there are any special features on blu ray discs. To those of you that have 50+ and 100+ blu ray films already (congrats!), are the special features similar to that of regular and 2 disc dvds?

I dont own a blu ray player or movies yet because I am still debating if it is worth it.

thx for the input

BDs do have special features. They don't have as many special features as most 2- disc DVDs do (neither format does, but overall...HD DVD has more special features right now). Blu-ray has a lot more space for more special features when the studios decide to place more features on future titles. I guess it's more like...they will give us more special features when we demand it from them.

I will ask the others to provide more reasons for you to go Blu-ray. There are so many...reason that is.

But, high-def is definitely worth it!

Someone else can probably remember better than me what the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean, Cars and other Disney/BV Blu-ray's will have in the extras department. I think they're all BD-50's with AVC video and so much content - including interactive java games - that they're throwing in another BD just for extras.

Some studios are waiting for finalization of other supplement technologies, like PiP, which HD-DVD has. When BD debuted, Sony didn't mandate some of those technologies, so they're just now getting finalized. Once that happens, many more titles will feature interactive supplemental materials. The 20gb extra storage space that a BD-50 disc has will mean that more extras will be available to BD than can fit on HD-DVDs. The extra space will also allow for more technologically advanced features in the future. Sony has mandated that all players made after October 31st, 2007, must have full BD-Java support.

Dragon's Lair, which comes out April 9, will have BD-Java features, with Warners putting out many titles with the interactive features later this year (Batman Begins, V for Vendetta, The Matrix Trilogy, etc).

i appreciate the feedback. I still cant decide if I want to have an $800 fancy DVD player yet. I cant figure out which one will win, or if both of them flop. Granted Blu-Ray has more titles and quality (also much more fun to say than "HD-DVD") I still havent decided yet.

If anyone knows more about the special features, PLEASE POST! special features are almost the deciding factor. it provides for at least 50% of my movie enjoyment!

Thx everyone!

the special features on a BD release will have the same as the HD-DVD release if it is released on both formats...

there are some movies with a ton of features and some with have a few director's cut and special editions out there and you have a few movies with no special features...

usually the movies with not much to offer for special features will usually have none....

it depends on the movie....but for what it's worth, BD holds the most capacity for extra features and has a clear advantage over HD-DVD in this dept...

when looking at the prices, you get what you pay for....the only thing that really matters is if you really can afford a BD player right now...

you can extend your wallet by going BD....or you can waste your money on an already dead format

ahah...all joking should look around this site for BD info and do your homework.....and most importantly...try to spot the FUD!!
