Why are Vinegar Syndrome's adult Blu-rays listed on this site but adult Blu-rays from other studios are not? Is it just because Vinegar Syndrome's titles are from the 70s & 80s? Does that make them more worthy than adult titles from the past 20 years?

Because they're not a genre specific label. They also sell cult titles, horror films, etc. Some of their catalog just so happens to be of adult entertainment. Typically vintage erotica, and I would say, holds more value than generic cookie-cutter adult titles from the last 20 years. I haven't looked in detail, but the majority of VS's catalog of adult titles don't even go past the mid 80's. Some, not all. Most, if not all their titles were also shot on film and they handled the 2K restorations on these films themselves. They're not just a boutique label, but an archive and restoration firm.

Yep, all of them were shot on film. You are also correct about the time period, 70’s through 80’s.

Sometime I think some people on here just hate movies. Why would anyone consider it bad news? Disney+ is a revenue stream just like physical media or theatres for the films. Anyone of the revenue streams doing better is better for any film buff even if it is not the one that person personally uses.

Disney+,Hulu and ESPN together lost $466 million in the quarter compared to $1.1 billion the quarter before that.

You don't think that I want them to get to the point where they become profitable and the money can go to better use then subsiding streaming media infrastructure?

With numbers like that, I'm sure their focus will be all-in on streaming and digital. Hopefully we can still get some scraps but that's depressing.

Because everyone that streams (at the moment) costs them money, they are hopping they can keep it going long enough to brake even/start being profitable. Physical media is very profitable, so there is no reason to get rid of it.

That poster will post any and everything if it is a negative against Blu-ray and started doing many years ago at AVS. In this thread:

Made no mention of EST revenue. Claims to know the cost of data centers but had never posted the continued cost to providers of EST.

I watched Yellowstone season 3 on streaming recently which was apparently in 4K, a few weeks before the Blu-ray was released... I had binged watched season 1 & 2 on Blu-ray, and wanted to see season 3 straight away (I also purchased season 3 as soon as it was released on Blu-ray)... I wasn't impressed with the quality of the streamed version I watched on the Australian service Stan in comparison to the Blu-ray. On the other hand, I watched season 3 of Cobra Kai on Netflix in 4K, the quality here was much better than my experience with Yellowstone season 3, and it certainly trumps Cobra season 1 on Blu-ray, the banding on the UK and Australian discs is appalling (I haven't watched the UK Blu-ray of season 2 yet, however considering all 10 episodes are squeezed on to a single BD50 like season one, I'm not overly optimistic that there's going to be an improvement in quality over season one). I hope when Cobra Kai season 3 is released on Blu-ray, that it's much closer to what I saw on Netflix in 4K, than it is for season one on Blu-ray... Otherwise, it shouldn't be released on 1080p Blu-ray at all, only on 4K disc.

I think it has to do with the difference between Erotica vs Pron, it even sounds better. I like the way this person put it:

Quote:
EROTICA is brunettes in silk, pornography is blondes in nylon. Erotica is for nice middle class literate people like us, pornography is for the lonely, unattractive and uneducated.

I made it a double header yesterday of mixed formats: I watched the series called "The Head" on HBO MAX, which was excellent. It's a Spanish/Japanese(?) production but it's in English and a couple of the Scandinavian languages, and some Spanish here and there. One of the main cast is some Japanese pop star I don't know anything about, hence the Japanese co-production. It's a thriller set in an Antarctic outpost where folks are not who they seem to be. I really liked how they used John Carpenter's The Thing for thematic elements and homage. The Head is not even horror.

After that, I watched the 4K disc of Rogue One. It was a stunner! I keep hearing that Rogue One is the best looking/sounding 4K disc out of the franchise. I own Solo, as well, and that one has always looked mediocre.

Hard Soap, Hard Soap / Disco Lady BD
Public Affairs BD
Indecent Exposure BD

Second order:

Barbara Broadcast BD
Erotic Adventures Of Candy / Candy Goes To Hollywood BD
Too Naughty to Say No DVD

Barbara Broadcast was the only title that was not part of the sale, but they only had 45 copies or so when the sale started, and when I woke up this morning, they had 5 left, so I had to snag it now. It's currently sold out.

No problem:

95 million X $4.03 = $382 million/mo. X 12 = $4.6 billion/year.

Should we add the other 51 million subs from Hulu (35M), Hulu Live (4M) and ESPN+(12M)?

Now . . . what would you like me to compare that to, staying in home entertainment as that is where the goal posts are fixed.

I spend a lot of time with tech stuff and some here do a lot more title research than I have time for. Two recent examples, I learned about UHD BD of The Beastmaster from that poster and Silent Madness 3-D from another. Stick around, you may learn something you did not know about.

Just fired up Dracula Untold on 4K disc. I really wish they had kept this as the Dracula lead-in to the proposed monsterverse. It's a cool little film.

The last movie that alchav said he watched was Unhinged and I don't recall anyone making fun of him for it. People commented about the movie itself, but that's to be expected. I'm still catching up with this thread, but I didn't see any criticism directed at him for watching this movie.

I haven't seen it, but I'd be willing to give it a try.
