The Village had an interesting concept but the execution left a lot to be desired.

Maybe I'm too harsh on this one and should give it a rewatch.

Actually thinking about it the thing that really lowered my price point was studios doing shady things with extras like DVDs and digital copies. They started removing them from all but the first print run without changing the upc codes. I got burned a few times and basically changed my target price point to the level that assumes that stuff is missing.

Their original plan was probably to get people to buy releases earlier at higher prices but instead it just made me buy used more often at lower prices. Since their trick actually made the used copy the more complete copy

[Show spoiler]Try approaching the film as a romance, rather than a thriller. It's much better that way.

The first two minutes of The Gravel Road is one of my favorite romantic themes ever composed.

Loved Signs and Split, enjoyed Village. Old was a letdown for me.

Star Trek TNG films in 4K are interesting. I didn't think those were big sellers to begin with, surprised they are doing them in 4K. Aren't most of the effects done at lower resolutions sort of like Star Trek TMP Director's Edition originally was?

Watched a werewolf horror film on Netflix last night called "Viking Wolf." It's a Norwegian film and takes obvious inspiration from American Werewolf in London and The Wolfman (2009). It was ok and a decent timewaster. It is in 4K SDR/5.1 on Netflix. I watched in Norwegian with English subtitles.

Watched The Invitation on BD via Netflix by mail. A different take on the vampire genre. Liked but not enough to re-watch.

Hey Donster glad to have you back, how are things in Texas have a Nephew in Allen? We are still here kicking around this subject. I see that you are mostly Streaming, what kind of setup do you have? Are you still going to buy Discs, because a decent 4K Player is costly? IMO this obsession for Quality of Disc is Subjective and very dependent on your equipment and setup!

Anything gif quality doesn’t come cheap. Film deserves the best.

Quality is only a part of it. There's also ownership.

Watched Free Guy 4K disc tonight. Enjoyed it, especially all the gaming references and jokes.

good A/V quality. Not blow my socks off good like ‘Nope’ or ‘Maverick’ but good enough.

Ownership is fine up to a point, but then you have to be practical. Unless you have ample room, then you have to condense the Discs somehow. Put them in sleeves and file them, or save them to a Server.

I watched S1 E5 of 1923:

If one is serious about ownership and HT, that has probably been planned for.

I fit 1000 discs in a single bookcase. It doesn't take up that much room.

Why would a non disc owner be concerned about space needed to store disc, makes no sense unless they are envious of those that have disc and space to store them.

Having them stored on your personal server does not reduce disc storage space unless the person sold the disc. In that case the person should delete the title from their server. Having my own server has not changed my procedure, I still store all my BD on shelves in the home theater and in alphabetical order.

Now that I have both subs working again and a new lamp in the projector watched Top Gun: Maverick last night. Was curious about PQ since it was shot with the Sony CineAlta series cameras. Looked really good. In the future it will be interesting to see how many will use Sony instead of Arri or Red cameras. Watching what Blackmagic Design is doing with cameras.
