Anyone know if/when Paramount and Lionsgate might make the jump to Movies Anywhere?

I really like Movies Anywhere...but this whole studio thing is VERY frustrating!

Does anyone know if/when these studios might sign on with MA?

The only ones that know, would be those involved in the decision making process. Us, as users, can conjecture or speculate based on anecdotal evidence or rumor but until there is an official announcement from someone in the "know"...no one knows.

Disney held out the entire time from joining UV so who knows how long Paramount and Lionsgate will hold out on MA, but it could be a long time.

Disney held out because they were developing their Keychest locker system.

Paramount is hoping their Paramount Network platform will be a money maker and they might not want to commit to MA for awhile but who knows if this is the real reason. Costs also.

I would add MGM and STX to that list as well. There have been some great prices on MGM titles on iTunes recently but I'm not buying until they join Movies Anywhere.

STX is a definite no go unless Movies Anywhere's consortium changes its mind. The consortium denied STX's entry.

Since UV decided to shut down, it's more likely that Paramount will join soon. Lionsgate is doing it's own thing right now, so I'm not sure about them, but I am sure they will come along eventually.

Hopefully that was a temporary thing while MA got fully up to speed. No idea if STX has kept up with attempting to join, but hopefully things will change for them and other smaller outfits.

That doesn’t mean it’s not temporary as there is not a deadline.
The original post that everyone refers to from STX did not say they would never be allowed to join MA just at the time MA was not admitting the smaller studios. This may change or it may never change. Only time will tell.

She said they are working on a deal with MA and think it’s possible before Molly’s Game is released.

I was told that MA are the ones preventing a deal right now because they are currently only dealing with large studios and consider this basically an indie studio despite the Universal/Lionsgate involvement (which even confuses me).

When a deal is struck, A Bad Mom’s Christmas should port over. I was told if people want a deal to happen faster to email MA and let them know you want titles like A Bad Mom’s Christmas and Molly’s Game to not be limited to iTunes. I’m sending them an email tonight and encourage others to do so as well.

For now, it’s a waiting game but SFX said they absolutely feel terrible that only iTunes would deal with them and are very much wanting a licensing deal with MA and are working diligently to get one. Hopefully some of us can help them out but nothing anytime soon can be done about A Bad Mom’s Christmas. Hopefully it goes down to $9.99 soon and I’ll begrudgingly buy it if there’s no deal yet.

The studios pay a lot to be part of MA. I'm not sure Paramount will want to pay that to get in. Though they were paying to be part of UV, but it was substantially less.

No way to know, they could just continue having dual redeem codes, one for VUDU and one for ITUNES just like now - UV is not necessary for that.

The participating studios contribute financially to the service, there is no licensing fee or initiation fee:

The five studios each providing funding to Movies Anywhere, but there’s no fee for retailers to participate. “The notion is that all boats rise,” said Gilford.

Why are Aviron Pictures, Regatta, and Bleecker Street films part of MA? Does Universal own them partially?
