HE won't pay $15-20 for a blu-ray now that he is used to getting HDUDs for $2-5 each. Of course it cost alot when you compare it to a fire sale.

I'm happy to see that Blu-ray players have come down in price... but the media has not, and there's no way I'm paying $25 to watch Step Brothers. Plus the technology is still, bafflingly, dog-slow.
The PS/3 and others are quite fast. Software costs isn't a tech issue.

Intel Core i7 CPU - This new CPU is the fastest and most capable microchip on the block, hands down. Can't wait for the mobile version to arrive in 2009.
Ah, you only look at the fastest stuff and ignore the cost of software when it ISN'T Blu-ray. Gotcha.

$25 for a movie is too much, but an $800 cell phone is a best product? I'd also like an explanation of the phrase "Plus the technology is still, bafflingly, dog-slow." By the way, bafflingly isn't a word, but I guess Yahoo Tech can't afford a dictionary.

This guy (writter) has written other negative things about Blu before. If you read his pick for the worst it makes ZERO logical sense. His reasoning...$25 dollar movies.

i'm tired of reading these stupid articles, and just as tired reading threads about them. why do we keep posting about them? it is almost like people need validation from others to tell them that blu is not dying. Just enjoy Blu and the technology and stop worrying about what some lonely idiot in a cubicle writing articles is trying to tell you

Amazing how $25 is too much for a movie title but $800 makes sense for a cellphone.

Even more tiring is reading elitist posts like this one. If you're tired of reading posts like these, why bother clicking it to begin with? If I'm not mistaken this is the Blu-ray Technology and News section, you might not be interested but you certainly don't speak for everyone on this site. Just move on.

I think the issue is that the more general consumer, in troubling times, won't risk money on something a bunch of people are telling them isn't succeeding.

But, the best way to get over being tired reading threads about this, is to stop reading threads about it.

Hey, I wouldn't pay $25 to watch Step Brothers on BD either, guys.

Oh, but I would (and did) pay $50 to watch The Dark Knight on BD.

EDIT: And another $25 to watch WALL-E on BD.

EDIT: And another several hundred dollars for the rest of my collection.

I watched the BLADERUNNER Blu Ray last, projecting it through a Panasonic AE3000U onto a 10 foot wide screen. I have a freaking MOVIE THEATER in my house thanks to Blu Ray. Obviously the writer of this article just doesn't get it.

What....an.....idiot! I'm so sick of these f'n articles. The big problem to me about them is sure they are lies and all and we all know that BUT what about the general public. They will read over and over these articles and decide not to buy into blu-ray. I'd say Blu-ray is well on its way into mainstream. How could you not when they just announced Venture Brothers and South Park.
