5. Better Off Dead
6. Spaceballs

For some reason, this list was tougher to narrow down than the top 20 greatest movies of all time or superhero/comicbook lists (I could have easily went past 20). So far there seems to be a lot of variety in the movies chosen. I'm hoping to see more love for My Cousin Vinny and Better Off Dead.

This took me forever to do. And yes all recent comedies too.

1. Superbad
When I first watched this I was in such a bad place but this made me laugh so hard. Thank god I found this.
2. Zack and Miri Make a Porno
So disgustingly funny and extremely underrated. I love it.
3. The Hangover
This came outta nowhere with a bunch of nobodies and it's so bloody good. Shame about the sequel.
4. Harold and Kumar Go to Whitecastle
So much chaos from scene to scene and lot's of funny filth. Love it.
5. Sex Drive
Extremely overlooked but brilliant. It's like Superbad on wheels. Clarke Duke steals the show.
6. Jackass 2
Of everything on my list this probably makes me laugh the hardest to the point of having tears in my eyes.
7. Funny People
Quite long for a comedy but it's done so well. Again another underrated film. I think it's safe to say I like Seth Rogen
8. Step Brothers
Such a silly comedy but comedies aren't meant to have serious story lines. Fantastic.
9. American Pie
Loved this when I first watched it as a kid. It's kind of aged in recent years but it's still one of the best around.
10. In Bruges
I would probably recommend this the most out of my list for the brilliant one liners.
11. Bruno
So shockingly funny and yes, it's rated higher than Borat. I enjoyed it just a tad more.
12. Harold and Kumar 2
Brilliant follow up to the first that didn't dissapoint.
13. Borat
Nothing much to say here. Probably one of the most popular film in recent years and rightfully so.
14. I Love You Man
Love the film..not sure what to say on this one
15. Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Russell Brand is ace in this film.

Haha I dont like Ferrell either. I never gave him a chance. He just doesnt interest me. As for Carrey after Liar Liar I dont like The Truman Show. He caught me off guard with that one and it was different from what he was doin. Also burnt me on The Number 23 which I thought was gonna be good but was a dud. He had a decent come back with Yes Man though. It was a wannabe reverse Liar Liar though. Got Em!!

Wedding Crashers- pretend its two other actors. It'll be worth it.
Old School- a less polished Wedding Crashers type comedy. Not too much Will Ferrel
Bruce Almighty- a little corny and jesus-y but fun.
More post Liar Liar fun- I Love You Phillip Morris (even better than Yes Man)
Gotcha lol

Oh, yeah, Old School is awesome. And yes, thankfully, there is not too much Will Ferrell, he is the main weak link in the film (that should go without saying), but even he is okay. Far better than in garbage like Anchorman, Step Brothers, and the like. Although I did enjoy The Other Guys. Anyways, Old School is great, certainly my favorite "Frat Pack" comedy, followed by "Wedding Crashers" and then "Starsky & Hutch." Ferrell is in both of those as well, sad to say, but it's just a quick cameo and then that particular medicine is down the hatch, and you will be back to being entertained. You should check all those out, they are great. Bruce Almighty is tolerable, I guess, but not great. Morgan Freeman plays God, if that sells the movie to you at all.

I don't understand why that would be a problem. You have over a hundred years of movie comedies to choose from. Decades ago most films fell under harsh censorship from the Hays Code. Anything deemed controversial back then would be considered tame by now.

You could select from the silent slapstick classics of Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, and Harold Lloyd, for instance, or the "Screwball" comedies of the thirties (Bringing Up Baby, The Awful Truth, for instance). You have teams like the Marx Bros., the Ritz Bros., Laurel and Hardy, Abbott and Costello, Wheeler and Woolsey, Burns and Allen, Hope and Crosby, Martin and Lewis, as well as comedians like Mae West and W.C. Fields.

Ernst Lubitsch directed many fine comedies like To Be or Not To Be, Ninotchka, Trouble in Paradise, etc. (Since you're religious I won't recommend Heaven Can Wait [1943] for you, as hell and infidelity are treated very lightly.) Preston Sturges is another great director of old comedies -- The Great McGinty, Sullivan's Travels, Hail the Conquering Hero, The Lady Eve, etc. Ealing Studios had a great run of comedies in the post war years -- Kind Hearts and Coronets, The Lavender Hill Mob, The Man in the White Suit, and The Ladykillers (1955). (All staring Alec Guiness.)

There's a veritable treasure trove of comedic films for you to choose from, so there's no excuse.
