PROs

- Amazing Black Levels. My desktop background is solid black. When I turned off the TV I didnt notice a change in the black level. Im sure OLED is better but this has to be as good as it gets for a traditional backlit panel.

- 4K HDR is jaw dropping (duh). I was watching a 4K aquarium video and it looked like the TV had turned into an actual aquarium with depth. This TV is suppose to have around 1100 nits of brightness when your standard bargain bin 4K HDR TV has around 200, but I havent really seen a light 'pop' yet. Maybe my settings are quite right or I just havent watched the right video yet.

- I havent played any games on it yet (PS5 arrives next week) but it feels like there's practically no lag with my mouse pointer when in game mode. Apparently input lag in game mode is 15ms, which is solid.

- I'm very impressed with the TV's motion interpolation (soap opera effect). rtings said there is artifacts around fast moving objects when motion interpolation is active but I havent really noticed it yet. It does a much better job at this then my brother's old Sony 850b

- Watch Free TV - If your TV is connected to the internet you can stream many, many channels for free. Most content on these channels is B level TV shows but the vast number of channels (over 200 at least) ensure quantity beats quality. I'll definitely browse these channels again from time time. The picture quality on them is just OK. Im guesing they were 720p and somewhat below average bit-rate based on how they looked. Not bad, but just passable.

CONs

- Some color banding issues in inferior content like 720p or low bit rate videos. I've only seen minor banding in one 4K HDR video, but I really only noticed it because I was looking for it. My brother owns an old Sony 850b 4K that had massive color gradient issues, this TV is nowhere near that. Color banding bothers me alot but the gradient issues here is by no means a deal breaker for me. But if you are planning on watching alot of low quality content on this set be prepared, it seems it won't upscale it extremely well.

- There's very light blooming even when the Active Fully Array is set to Low. You don't want to turn it off though as this is what gives you the deep blacks. When you turn the active full array up too high blooming is really bad, but this might be the best way to watch HDR movies. I'll look into picture settings another time.

- Turning the TV on is a bit of a pain. You have to point the controller directly at the bottom center of it, at least it seems that way.

Very, very happy with the TV so far. Can't wait to finally try 4K movies on it next week with the PS5 and test game input lag for real

The price for the 85 inch model, P85qx-h1 has dropped to $2799 on Sam's Club.com, which makes it only $200 more than the Sony 85" x900h, which has gone back up to $2600. I am trying to get a price adjustment from Sam's, since my unit hasn't shipped yet.

I know it's available online, but I really wanted to try and hold out to be able to pick up an M55 at my local Walmart (to replace my trusty old P50 that I carelessly busted the screen on in my recent move). Unfortunately, I'm not sure how long they will take to show up at the store. Furthermore, I'd rather get any TV at Costco as they double the manufacturer's warranty but again, they don't seem to be showing up there any time soon either.

I'm curious, what setting are you using for active full array in SDR? I ask because I like medium for HDR content but think I'm liking high more for SDR.

My setting was factory stock before the updates which changed things around. Havent had a chance to really dig into the settings after updating the TV's software

Okay, so I received the P85qx-h1 a few days before Christmas and i've had some time to play around with it, so here's a preliminary review, featuring pros and cons.

Remember, I use the TV exclusively for watching 4k uhd blu-rays and streaming 4k via my new Roku Ultra(with Dolby Vision). I don't watch sports anymore, but my son was checking out an NFL game on regular cable and it looked REALLY good. The 1080i upscale to 4k was VISIBLY better than my 2018 P75 Vizio as far as cable is concerned.

The TV is HUGE. I have a stand that's 71 inches wide and it hangs off about two inches on each side. The legs of the tv are far apart, about five inches from the tip of the screen. Okay, enough of that.

PROS:

Gorgeous picture: fantastic blacks, nice colors and bright as hell. "Bright" mode is what I'm using for 4k UHD blu-rays and it looks BEAUTIFUL, with very little adjustments. Seriously, this thing rivals OLED as far as black levels, without the danger of burn in, and is MUCH brighter.

Dolby Vision: Unlike past Vizio tv's I've had, Dolby Vision isn't too dark. In fact, it's perfect. A slight but visible improvement over HDR 10.

ROKU Ultra: Looks fantastic. Been watching YouTube 4k videos and they look outrageously good. "The mandalorian" looks phenomenal, as does 4k stuff via netflix, Vudu, etc.

Off angle viewing: The TV actually has a function that IMPROVES off angle viewing. It's called "Enhanced Angle Viewing" and it actually kinda works!

THE CONS:

1. The built in streaming apps are slow and buggy as hell. I don't use them.

2. My Logitech Harmony One remote does not turn the tv on, nor switch the inputs. It's annoying AF. In fact, the TV is not even listed in the Harmony database when trying to program it. The closest thing they have listed is the 75 inch, which, apparently, must work differently than the 85, because the harmony doesn't work. Once the tv is on, you can use the harmony to perform certain tasks with the tv, like turn it off, but it's basically useless. VERY annoying.

3. I have a Sony 1080dn AVR, and it was having handshake issues with the TV. I have a Panasonic 4k uhd blu-ray with it's own separate audio output so i run the video from the Panasonic straight into the tv and the audio straight into the receiver. It looks like the eARC thing doesn't work well with older AVR's.

And that's it, for now. IMO, the TV is well worth getting and despite it's flaws, I'm glad I got it.

I’ve had the tv for about a week(85”) and have found most of the sports channels don’t look great but this is using the Comcast X1 box.

nFL Network is especially brutal.
Tv cannot process grass movement.
It’s just a blurry mess.

Comcast isn’t one of the providers that you can use to login to the nfl apps so I don’t have that option for flipping over to the app.

Even the “Sports” setting is rough.
Any deep red just gets blown out.

So I never came across a 2020 M55 in-store and just like that, the 2021 line will be announced soon, life comes at you fast.

Due to the pandemic, Vizio delayed the release of their 2020 lineup, and in June of 2020 they released it as their 2021 lineup instead. We've tested all of those models, which you can see below, and we aren't sure if Vizio will release new models in 2021.

So, my p55-f1 died. Dimming zones are no longer working properly and keep turning gray? Odd. Good thing I bought GSP protection through Best Buy. Sounds like they're just going to give me credit to use towards a new TV. Thinking about going for the 55 inch Vizio OLED. What do you all think? Good idea? Bad idea?

I have the 55" OLED & it's a solid TV IMO. Only gripes I have & that my Harmony Elite doesn't change the outputs. There's a work around for that, but I read that the latest update fixes it. I also read that the latest update fixes 4K@120 for the PS5, I just haven't received the update yet, but some people that got the update are saying they still having issues. There's a work around for that also, but you have to change the transmission on the PS5 to -1. Chroma subsampling will be 4:2:2 instead of 4:4:4. It also doesn't have Bluetooth so I can't retire my RF175 headphones yet. Of course there are adapters for sale.

Biggest issue is a lot of banding & crushed blacks when watching cable (Spectrum while watch 1917, End of Watch, The Gentleman) & Netflix (The Originals, HD plan) Blacks look like bugs crawling on the TV. That could just be me as I haven't had it calibrated & while some mention they are having that issue other say they are not. These issues are nonexistent when watching the disc of those same movies.

I've had the box in my house since Nov 9th in case I decide to take it back (last day is Jan 14th) but I think I'm leaning towards keeping it as what I saw at CES was underwhelming. I can't complain for $900 but if I would have paid $1,300 I might not be as forgiving.

Edit: Another minor annoyance, when watching blurays & using the PS5, the volume rocker pops up for no reason. I read that on other Vizio TVs you could hide the volume rocker, but not on the OLED. No idea if this is fixed on the current update.

the last firmware update now allows my P85qx-h1 to be totally controlled by my Harmony Remote. Still putting this tv through it's paces, but i'm a happy customer for now. It's on sale this week for $2499 at Sam's Club. I'd pull the trigger on that price were i in the market.

I ended up buying the OLED and I love it! Just a drastic increase in PQ compared to what I had before in the P55-F1.
