Default Ask questions to Eureka Entertainment Insider Kevin

This thread is dedicated to asking questions of industry insider Kevin (Eureka Entertainment) who has graciously taken the time to participate here. Kevin and all our insiders do this out of their free time and to try to keep us informed to their best abilities, and therefore are to be treated with respect and courtesy.

Before asking a question, please skim at least the last weeks worth of posts in order to make sure that the question hasn't already been asked or answered. Using the search function is also always a good idea. Please conduct your inquiries in a professional manner and avoid asking "chicken little" questions or asking when unannounced titles will come out.

Hey Kevin, just wanted to let you know that I love Masters of Cinema series. If the restoration of "Metropolis" is completed in January, can we hope for the Blu-ray in Q3?

Hi Guys and Girls,

My names Kevin and I work for those lovely folk Eureka Entertainment, we are an independent distributor of classic silent/early films in the UK.

Any questions about our releases or Blu-ray in general I'll happily answer as best I can.

Thanks.

Metropolis is going to be a big one, we'll know more as soon as the restoration is done, fingers are firmly crossed for a 2010 at Eureka towers. As soon as we know any more I'll let you know.

I would love to have the classic films that Eureka has released (Double Indemnity, Lifeboat, The Lost Weekend, etc) But, they are Region B locked. Can you...could you please make it so the fans in the US can enjoy these as well?....without having to have a Region Free player? Thank you.

Eureka has been pretty vocal about releasing their Blu-rays region free. When they're not doing it, they're not allowed to by the studios Eureka licenses the titles from.

Has there been any interest, or a possibility of a release of "The Human Condition"? I know Criterion released it here in the U.S. on DVD, and I believe it was said that the elements couldn't warrant an HD/Blu-ray release? Since you knocked Harakiri out of the park, it seemed only fitting to return to Kobayashi at some point.

Hiya Kevin mate,

I just wondered if the good boys and girls over at MoC/Eureka have any plans to release John Fawcett's Ginger Snaps in the near future? Is it a possible release for the company or is it highly unlikely?

Thanks in advance, mate.

Hi Kevin! I don't know if you can answer this, but given how well Eureka's Late Mizoguchi sold, does the company have any plans on reacquiring the rights to those films (eventually the ones that Artificial Eye held as well)?

I am aware that there's some releases in region B (Emon in Spain and Capricci in France), but they lack english subtitles. Many collectors like me were late to the party and would grab those at once (there are collecting willing to pay over 200 pounds for a Late Mizoguchi boxset at the moments)

Kevin hasn't worked at Eureka in years and Eureka will most likely not reacquire those films as they weren't great sellers.
