Default From Sealed to Ported: SVS PB-2000 Pro vs SVS PB-1000 Pro

Hi gurus, just wondering if you could help me decide. I’ve owned an SVS SB13-Ultra for 7 years, then a couple of years ago I moved to the current house with a smaller home theater room (10’ x 13’). The SB13-Ultra does its job very well. You can imagine I’m a little behind on current options after having not changed a subwoofer that long.

But now I’m feeling like having a new experience (not necessarily an upgrade) to a ported subwoofer. Because of the small room, I’ve narrowed down to PB-2000 Pro or PB-1000 Pro.

PB-3000 is way too big for the room, it’ll look out of place with my KEF Q350 (I like bookshelves more than floorstanders and fits well with the small room) and there’s a good chance my wife will be too scared to even enter the room for a rom-com flick. Let’s not even mention PB-4000 or PB16-Ultra.

The SB13-Ultra has 1000W RMS (3600W peak) but doesn’t sound overwhelming in the room. PB-2000 Pro is 550W (1000W peak) while PB-1000 Pro is only 325W RMS (820W peak).

PB-2000 Pro power is closest to SB13-Ultra, actually almost half but the size is the largest I can fit in the room.

At first I was worried the PB-1000 Pro tiny power won’t be able to get even close to what I’m used to.

But Audioholics certified both for LARGE ROOM.

Now I don’t mind saving some money and footprint if it can perform well for my room size. These subwoofers can be really expensive in my country, $5500 vs $4100 in my currency.

So if I can get opinions from the forum members, without sacrificing quality, MUST I go for PB-2000 Pro or is PB-1000 Pro sufficient?

Dual PB-1000 Pro is over my allocated budget, and again space issue. There are no 45-day trial at home in my country, and I can’t go for an audition because of the pandemic. But generally I’m set for SVS because of my long experience with the company.

Thanks and cheers.

Man, this forum is like a ghost town. Wanted to ask here instead of the crowded AVS forums but didn't expect here to be so quiet. Must be the pandemic.

Anyway, decided with the PB-2000 PRO. Cheers.

It is a quiet sub area of the forum for sure, definitely not as many gear heads here as there used to be.

Enjoying it?

Noticed this as well all across the gear threads. That Klipsch speaker thread use to be really active. Now it's a ghost town. It has been a weird cpl of years.

No doubt. There and Reddit. Reddit has exploded the past few years.
