Wouldn't that be something! But nope, as you say. I highly doubt all the original elements survive to this day even if Fortune Star could pull their thumbs out of their asses long enough to take a crack at it!

Well this is not surprising. They just don't bother, or they don't have the separate tracks (FX...) anymore (very likely).

Stereo music is miles better, but a good mono mix is fine.

I have the vinyl record (Japan made) of the soundtrack, i didn't knew they was also an official CD.
The music is really good... The film is really a masterpiece in many aspect (i mean for a 80's HK movie).

I have also the soundtrack CD of Druken Master II in stereo.. awesome..
But in the dubbed English 5.1 remix they could also add stereo music. In the duplicated version, everything is re-recording.

If so, my response is still the same: We have no reason to think the mix will be any different on the replacment discs because it seems all they are fixing on the 5.1 are the audio dropouts.

The music may have been recorded in stereo for the OST but the film was originally presented in mono so they wouldn't have had the stereo mixes for the music to begin with. You don't source a film's music from the OST recordings, you source them from the original film itself.
You are right, same audio mono information in all 6 channels music. There is no separation. Not stereo, not 5.1.
Although on the official Japanese CD, the soundtrack is in the stereo mix. The sound is a very good mix.

New Line Cinema also dabbled in the fine art of remixing.

That Scandinavian set has an insane selection. Who wouldn't want them all in one set?!

But, the lack of Cantonese audio is a big no-no. Regardless of whether or not a person prefers dubs or not, the original language track should always be present.

French "Metropolitan/HK video" have made a lot of awesome releases in the 2000's. In-house telecine with a nice "raw" picture (often with a tinted color grading though), original tracks...

Now they only use fortune star masters i think. Certailny not profitable enough to make their own telecine.

I'm assuming you guys are all based in the UK? I'm from central Europe, hopefully mine will arrive sometime next week.

E-mail Eureka at this address:

customer@eurekavideo.co.uk

with a proof of purchase, i.e. a photo of your receipt. If you don't have it anymore, a photo of the boxset might do it as well.

I couldn't actually add a screenshot of my online order as I'm currently just using a PS4 for internet activity (no computer at moment). Eureka were happy to take my word for it and a chap called Stephen Rae told me that I had been added to the list. So it shouldn't be at all difficult to get your replacement disc.

Does anyone know if you buy the set direct from Eureka at this point, will it have the corrected disc?
