This NEEDS to fail hard for the sake of gaming in the future.

If it was between this and streaming I'd gladly take this any day.

One leads to the other. We should always support the physical option to ensure that option continues to exist.

Disc-less option does make sense. As long as its an OPTION!

While I am not ready to get a discless version of the upcoming "Xbox ONE-TWO XX" or whatever godawful name it'll be given, I can see a lot of folks tempted if less expensive

Last gen: I bought 80% physical, 20% digital.
This gen: 20% physical, 80% digital

Digital sales are quite good nowadays. Yeah, streaming is not my future hopefully

Pretty sure that battle is already over. Most of my anti digital friends who cursed the original xbox plan all buy digital now.

The only reason I wont go all digital is because it's about £10-£15 more expensive to buy digital than physical day one. And even if you wait for sales the physical version normally drops to less than the digital one anyway.

Although I'm a huge Xbox fan I totally agree. This is not in the best interest of the consumer. Why would anyone pay essentially the same price for something with less features with a lesser if any trade in value when you decide to get rid of it? I always said the day that video games go all digital is the day that I stop playing new games.

We will get a better picture with the next gen Systems. MS is jumping ahead (again) to test the waters. If it fails, no loss & no real indicator for statistics either long term given the position MS is in with competition right now.

If their next gen Disc less system comes out along side the disc version & that unit fails, then yes MS will care.

Except they said all along it's going to be a lower priced unit. That's exactly why they're making it. To have a cheaper point of entry. Also why would this not have any trade in value? I'm not understanding where that line of thought comes from.

Obviously heís referring to Microsoftís anti-resale feature, the discless system will self destruct if it gets near a GameStop after it has connected to Xbox Live.

GameStop will self destruct first.

229.99 Euro

Bare in mind you can get an Xbox One S with FH 4 1 month XBL Gold and 6 months Game Pass For 228.99 and a console on its own with 3 month XBL is less than 200.

So you pay 30 more for a machine that has less functionality but you get Minecraft, Sea Of Thieves and Forza Horizon 3 included.

Available from May 7th in Europe, expected to be revealed April 16th.

Are you quoting Microsoft prices or special bundles from specific retailers? Iím not in a Ä country so itís difficult to compare.

If those mockups are accurate Iím a little disappointed they didnít make it smaller, just changed the cover and left a hole inside (unless the empty space holds an additional hard drive).
