Hopefully the trend from last month of having two movies from the same director will continue - we got two Albert Brooks movies last month, maybe this month we'll get two Mike Leigh films? I'm guessing Naked although the rights are with Film4, but Secrets and Lies is a Film4 production so maybe Criterion finally got the UK rights from them

When S&L was on FilmStruck Curzon in 2018, it started with the Janus Films logo, can’t remember if Film4’s logo was there though

Surprised if Criterion managed to get Secrets & Lies from Film4 (the rightsholders in the UK, even though they got it from MK2 in the US)...but if true that could mean we finally get Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai, a title I will actually buy on day one because I flipping love Jarmusch and that film in particular.

I just want to see Days of Heaven and The Thin Red Line make it to the UK to complete the Malick collection. Also Fantastic Mr Fox and The Darjeeling Limited to complete Wes Anderson... perhaps now more likely considering the (surprise?) upcoming UK release of The Grand Budapest Hotel...? And while I’m here The Silence of the Lambs and Hitchcock’s Rebecca too!

"Rebecca", "The Lady Vanishes", "Foreign Correspondent", "Notorious"... There are so many Hitchcock classics that Criterion could release in the UK, but I'm not sure if there's some rights issue preventing that

In Germany all David Lynch Films belong to Studiocanal / Arthaus currently. Would assume this could be also the case for the UK. Therefore it isn’t very likely to get Criterion UK Lynch releases, I‘d guess...

I think Blue Velvet may have a chance as it's owned by De Laurentiis I believe. Same story for Dune which was picked up by Arrow, though remains to be seen if that was international or just a US deal...

'The Lady Vanishes' is a Network title in the UK, so extremely unlikely.

They don’t all belong to Arthaus, but were loaned to them for the boxset I THINK.

Unless you want to be a Criterion completist. Personally I can't go for that, especially if there already is a good (and cheaper) existing release.

No, it's part of the DEG library that was sold by Paravision/L'Oreal to StudioCanal.

Yeah, I gave up and ordered from Amazon for £2 more (using that £5 off code), but could've just waited a few more days and used the code for something else. D'oh!

As it turns out, despite my Zavvi pre-order being locked to my old address (another reason why I cancelled it), my old housemate ended up coming over to my new address with a parcel that had gone to that old address anyway, so could've brought that too. Oh well!

Interesting, so you're saying StudioCanal might have Blue Velvet now? In which case, I wonder why they're sitting on that one. Would be an obvious UHD title for a start, and if not then surely a title they would go all-out on for Blu-ray (as with The Elephant Man, Mulholland Drive).

I knew it was Zavvi just by seeing the Guernsey customs sticker on the envelope!

Arrived in perfect condition! Couple of things of note though.

There is no Malick signature, just “DIRECTOR APPROVED BLU-RAY SPECIAL EDITION”. The BBFC logo definitely sticks out, placed randomly on the only place it can fit on the left of the box. And the Warner Bros Home Entertainment logo is still the old one, not the updated logo.

Possibly because High Fliers licence hasn't run out.
