Default The Official LaserDisc Thread

Given the interest expressed recently in the Feedback forum for either a thread or subforum on laserdiscs, I thought we might begin one to get the ball rolling.

Many blu-ray high-definition users were also devotees of the laserdisc format that was in use since the late 1970s through the late 1990s. There are still LD titles that await a blu-ray release. This thread could be a useful way to keep up with laserdisc collecting and for comparisons to later format releases of LD titles on DVD and BD.

Default Braindead Laserdisc Autographed

Very happy today, as I got my Laserdisc of Braindead sent back from Auckland with the one and only Timothy Balmes' autograph on it, along with "Party's Over!" written on it.

I plan on getting a nice frame and putting it on my wall, once I get a couple more autographs on it next week... will post more shots as they get added. Stuart Devenie and Jed Brophy next!

Crazy moment just happened! I had sent my laserdisc down to Stuart Devenies (Father McGruder) acting agency (pre-arranged), and low and behold I got to speak to him over the phone as he was signing it!

Out of the blue completely. Will post pics of his autograph when it comes back.

Wow - would love to have something signed by him (Stuart D), as he played Sebastian the Fox in Meet the Feebles.

Yeah he said he doesn't remember much from that film. I sent my Feebles LP so he would have signed that too

Hi it all depends I guess, I would call it more of the 'European Theatrical' Cut rather than 'International'. But its the same thing your thinking of, the full version yes. I think it was only shortened in America (known as Dead Alive), where they cut out a lot of gore and the 'baby in the park' scene.

Sweet! package came back today, but cant post a pic yet as I get stuff sent bigger than a letter sent to my parents address (to much risk of it getting stolen out of the letterbox in the ghetto). Hopefully I can get time to pop there and pick it up this week.

I got my wife to start watching Dead Alive after showing her the "I kick ass for the Lord" scene. Once the pudding scene came on, however, the movie was turned off. She can handle gore in an Army of Darkness sort of way, but pudding is just off limits! Hopefully when it comes on Blu, I can convince her to give it another try.

Nice, Kai. The only movie I went after to get autographs was Silent Hill.
