You had FlatpanelHD, the danish site that caters to TV's make a point that its all going away because of no UHD BD players announcement at CES2020. Well duh! What products announcements were there really?

Everyone here likely watch a few of those YouTube presentation or read about the main points of each vendors presentation. Not much was it? Even projectors are not as apparent there. Zip almost for AVRs, speakers, and other audio gear.

I guess this Danish site seems to still think CES 2020 was a tech show? Wrong! Go look at IFA Berlin or CEDIA or some other show but not CES anymore except for who had the best elite TV demos.

There I said it all!
The only possible conclusion to be made is that no one wants projectors, AVRs, or speakers. Walmart stopped selling LG OLED TVs in my area and that can only mean that no one wants those things, either. Yep, the writing is on the wall alright. Written with crayons even. All of these products are doomed; doomed I say!

Lots of bright lights and camera flash in that one. A little better representation below. The suspended acoustical ceiling tiles and rails are painted a flat black. The exposed painted sections and the drapery is very dark burgundy. There is 1" high density fiberglass behind all the drapery. The carpet is dark plumb. All lights off while viewing.

All old pictures. The side and back surround speakers are now at ear level per Dolby recommendation for Atmos.

It looks very nice! I'll be right over to try it out first hand. I can only stay for a month or two, though. Okay if I bring my cat, too? Thanks bunches!

There has to be a story behind that neon skull placed on the floor under the screen; not your typical bias lighting, is it?

Thanks for the comments. Really sorry but no pets.

I just like neon sculptures. Not seen is a neon guitar. The front gets rotated for different seasons. Pictured is summer with neon skull and treasure box (Pirates of the Caribbean), fall is Halloween with neon witch and other items. Winter is neon snowman with Christmas then Valentines.

All lighting, neons, display light boxes, etc. is automated via X10 wall dimmers, lamp and appliance modules, etc.

Bose are going to close all of their 119 retail stores worldwide to go online only in most countries. Bose stores in Asia & the UAE will remain open.

See? I told everyone that nobody wanted speakers/ AVRs, etc. Home audio products weren't much mentioned at CES 2020 and this prophesy of doom is being fulfilled as we speak.

You have the best toys; your home looks like a very fun place to be. It's a shame my poor kitty will never know, though.

The already have mini Bose areas in Best Buy, so this is the same cost reduction tactic that Sony did earlier. Same issue of commercial rents or leases getting out of hand especially near high traffic areas that are selected.

I agree with your point about commercial rents.

The BOSE store that I have been on one occasion in Dundrum Town Centre in Dublin 16 was a really expensive place to have a store in the first place. The rents for it are astronomically expensive coupled with a very very small customer base to start with looking to either demo or buy their equipment. If it was not going to obtain enough customers to retain some kind of a profit. It will then make huge losses in it's profit margins. Ireland's retail sector has a problem with upward-only rent reviews for the past number of years. It's a huge shopping centre to begin with which makes it a challenge for BOSE to remain in it. The amount of other stores in it is absolutely huge since it opened to replace it's old shopping centre in 2005. But the other retailers in Dundrum TC don't have any issues with trying to get customers as they do have a frequent amount of customers coming in every day.

it depends on what and when you buy it. Full price for a new release it add up to "one month of 1 or 2 streaming services" on the other hand U am sure I m not the only one that has bought some films (new in store) for well under 5$.

Quote:
And the majority of people would rather watch a ton of different shows/movies for one month than forever own one title.
but are they willing to watch nothing every other month? The next month you need to pay again to continue to have access to the streaming service, if you spend that same money on a collection the next month you will have more films to pick from not just the one from that first month.

If someone is smart with money and they want streaming they would just pay for one service and switch it up every (few) month(s)

But imagine someone that decides they will pay the same as streaming but buy films, like you said the first month there is only one or two films, the next month they have 2-4, the next month 3-6. in a year or two the guy has enough films to watch a different one every day of the month.... add in borrowing for free films at the library (at the beginning) and financially this is the smartest move for someone that wants to save on film.

Quote:
You're surprised most people would choose this option?
not at all, I am also not surprised most people lease cars, have mortgages that they can barely make that last for ever.... most people are terrible with money and we all tend to way over value the immediate.

Is Netflix the only company in the red? We live in a world of legal Ponzi schemes. As long as companies are way over valued and their stock price is going up, you can always add to the shares outstanding and bring in extra money. All you need for this is more suckers willing to invest in the company. This can keep on going until the bubble bursts.

Netflix is a little bit different in that almost all of their revenue comes from their monthly subscription fees. The irony is that their disc by mail service still makes a tiny profit, but it can not even put a dent into the huge losses that their streaming business has incurred every year since 2011.

Other streaming services don't have all of their eggs in one poorly woven basket. Disney, Apple, Amazon, etc. have many diverse revenue streams while Netflix essentially has just one.

The problem is it can't stop. The only way to stay afloat is for user base to keep increasing. The only way to increase user base is to pay to buy it (advertisement, enter new market, pay for better content..... If their user base decreases for a few months investors become jittery, market cap goes down and it becomes harder to raise the needed capital to keep going.

74% of Americans already have Netflix and nowhere near that many are paying customers as many people share their accounts. Add in the fact that 10% of Americans have no internet service, many by choice, and that only leaves 16% for them to try to attract. Netflix has pretty much reached market saturation here in the U.S.

They have to expand abroad, which means that they have to create content that appeals to those foreign markets. They are discovering that content creation for the U.S. market alone is extremely expensive and now they have to try and do it on a global scale. They're just digging a deeper hole.

yeah I was not going to name all of them. The simple reality is with one bet you are guaranteed never to lose with the other bet you are guaranteed to lose (all companies or services eventually go away)
