It's more can't than won't isn't it? From what I know of the margins on digital movies most only give the provider 25-30%. Can't pay that to Apple and still keep your "doors" open. It's the same reason digital book sellers don't have bookstores within their iOS apps anymore.

https://www.flixster.com/ https://www.flixstervideo.com/ Weirdly, the title bar for the Flixster site still says "Buy, Rent, and Watch Movies & TV on Flixster", but I don't think you can do any of that with the Fandango Flixster. They offer links to digital providers but Fandango Flixster is really a destination for movie tickets now. |

Disney should have just joined Ultraviolet, but Disney had to be Disney.
I am all about more options, but Disney is for the most part garbage to me. There are only a handful of good movies in their entire history and that includes the actual good stuff and talent they acquired, not produced. * |

I'm not really into animated stuff so If 1 studio was not going to join UV I would have picked them, but I loved their movies growing up. Remember all the Kurt Russell Movies? Showing my age... ![]() |

Fandango is a unit of NBCUniversal which is owned by Comcast. Yes, Warner has a minority stake in Fandango. That doesn't make them the same company at all. NBCUniversal/Comcast drives the Fandango bus, Warner is sitting in the back looking for spare change.

Not to sound lazy, but I'm all for anything. Whatever happens, happens. Right now its all up in the air for me. I actually look at it both ways, since there's not much people can do but the bigshots in the boardroom. Like most of the people above, I like Disney's way of doing it (as in running things in most platforms like Google and such), but one umbrella could mean many things too.

This would actually be great if really means that one can purchase a digital movie from any provider (UV(Vudu/CinemaNow/FandangoNow), Amazon, Google Play, iTunes/Microsoft) and they all end up in one Disney locker.

My Collection on Disney is only two Movies, but only one shows up Ant-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy does not. I have 400+ in my Vudu Collection, so I am very happy with their service. From these Posting I can see that most are coming out from The Dark Side, and embracing HD Digital. Now the only obstacle is a Provider.

In the case of Digital, Disney doesn't make you choose just one provider. Almost all the other studios do. Sure, Paramount and Universal typically give you both UV and iTunes copies with your Blu-ray combo, but that still doesn't give you a copy on Amazon (not that most people complain). And if you've gone mostly Digital, like me, you'll be choosing a provider for each purchase outside DMA. Disney's decision to chose Blu-ray over HD-DVD was smart, and their Keychest idea is also great. Other studios could take notes from Disney when it comes to home video formats (maybe not when it comes to their handling of 3D). |

If you bought it though vudu and never linked your dma account then good luck with vudus probably Indian tech support though emails (I jest but the only studios support that I have found great is Disney followed perhaps by paramount. itunes tries but its normally a very polite your screwed call somebody else listed lol). Some of the other studios I have had a problem with never respond at all or demand pictures evidence etc by email over a few weeks for a code they give away for a dollar (if you have a bd). Disney is by far one of the best studios for contacting and getting support. As far as going to the dark side and using digital they give these things away with blu rays or sell them for a dollar. I never had a problem with using digital as a free extra though I would hate to pay money for them as they have no resale value and as vudu demonstrated recently they can talk away your library with a few bad keystrokes. |

Its also rather hard to force a change like that from a position of weakness Disney has all of the top 5 highest grossing films this year once rouge has finished its run. Last edited by veritas; 12-18-2016 at 04:18 PM. |

I just hope fox joins disney movies anywhere then we could get a new hope to propagate into amazon itunes etc. Fox also sucks in that their codes make you chose between vudu and itunes and go though their own site for redemption both of which are annoying. I wouldn't mind getting all of marvels universe into the dma sorting system but that will require fox sony and universal.

Store fronts can compete for our business with features, ease of use....but not by locking our purchases from any studio to play back only on their store front. Fox joining DMA would only further divide where we need to get to. The system is already in place....consumers need to shift focus from arguing studios need to make codes to work in all store fronts to, pressuring store fronts that continue to not join, to do so, imo. |
