Default Kickstarter Projects - Anime & Manga

There have been a few KICKSTARTER projects that I would have loved to taken part of, unfortunately I found out about them to late.

I would like to have this thread to show projects that are currently running in KICKSTARTER in regard to Anime and Manga.

So if you know of just a project let everyone know!

Any specific discussion on a particular project can be discussed in their own threads.

Thank You.

Norbie.

That would be the logical thing to do....

.... But one thread makes it more simple.

If no one takes part, well, so be it.

Peace

Great idea. Since no one posted in my thread I'm wondering if anyone actually participated in the Anime News Nina kickstarter.

I checked it out, but I will only do anime in a video format - no manga or anime in written form for me. Not because I don't want to read anime; just that I can't afford to expand my hobby beyond anime on disc media. I don't even want to think about manga or figurines and such, or I would have to rob banks and sell drugs for a living to afford it...

As far as Anime on Blu-ray, I am only aware of Time of EVE, Little Witch Academia 2, and Bubblegum Crisis Kickstarters right now - and all of those are past their open pledge periods - although pledging is still possible for the Bubblegum Crisis Bluray through Paypal for a little while longer... Is there anything else out there in Blu-ray Kickstarters right now, anyone?

Over on the UK anime thread they announced that Anime Limited is going to start a new Kickstarter in the next week or so for a yet-to-be-announced anime (not sure if on Blu-ray or just DVD), for both the UK and the US markets - so I guess that will be a region-free release... no idea what it will be yet.

And of course, there's Anime Sols for DVD releases of older anime titles, as F-Man stated.

Not necessarily anime but still looks decent and is a blu-ray kickstarter.

It's a good series that certainly deserves to be supported. While primarily inspired by anime and produced in France, there are specials that have been worked on by Japanese animation studios, including Madhouse and Studio Ghibli.

Give it a shot. It's no Avatar the Last Airbender, but it's definitely one of the better animated adventure series out there.

The French/Japanese productions I've seen I've really enjoyed - Oban Star Racers and Valerian & Laureline... would love to have Valerian & Laureline released on disc with the English Dub, and by the English dub I mean the UK English dub. Was the first time hearing an anime with such a dub - but I like it!

Anime Ltd. wants to put Mai Mai Miracle on Blu-ray for US and UK fans.

The Kickstarter isn't live yet but should be soon.

I'd also love to have Valerian & Laureline, an anime with a native French soundtrack sounds like a cool novelty.

In other Kickstarter-related news, I recently added the limited and regular editions of Little Witch Academia 2 to the database.

Well, I see Wakfu is doing well, and they've now added Season Two to their Blu-ray, so I broke down and pledged the $40 CDN ($36 US) for just the basic Blu-ray level.

The $40 tier is an absurdly good deal. Especially when you consider that the add-on by itself is $60 minus the goodies, not to mention you don't need to worry about shipping. AND almost all of this stuff minus the artbooks will be unavailable to obtain after the campaign is over.

It's without a doubt the most generous Kickstarter that I've contributed to.

Oh, and I also pledged the $45 early-bird level for the Mai Mai Miracle Blu-ray, so I'm in four Kickstarters now - Mai Mai Miracle, Wakfu, Time of Eve, and Bubblegum Crisis... and I just missed LWA2 by a few hours...

Is there something special about what you get from the $45 pledge as compared to any of the other ones where you get the Collector's Edition BD+DVD?

I was going to pledge $45 and thought I would do it later today, only to find out that that one was limited to 250 backers and now it's gone. Is it just that you get "credit as being involved in the crowd production process"?

No, the only difference is that the early-bird tier is a discount for $10 less than the regular-priced basic Blu-ray level, which is $55... A lot of kickstarters have early-bird tiers, but you got to jump quick to get them, as they usually go in less than an hour! After those are gone, then you're paying the normal price for the Blu-ray...

Ah, got it. Thanks!

Since it seems like they will easily make the goal, it would have been nice if I got the early bird tier pricing, but $55 isn't so bad.

This is the first time I actually considered funding something, so I never really noticed that some tiers were simply cheaper versions of other tiers. Good to know for future reference.

Well, if they run the Kickstarter right, and they bring out new stretch goal tiers every so often during the pledge period, then you may find you'll want something new they offer in addition to just the Blu-ray, and so change your pledge level to a higher tier. Just sit back and check in to the Kickstarter on a regular basis to see what the next stretch goal will be, and if something new appeals to you, just hit the "Manage Your Pledge" button...

To see what I mean, check out my post #13 in the Time of EVE Kickstarter thread...

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=234758

I first pledged the regular Blu-ray level, then they offered an English Fan book as a stretch goal, and I upped my pledge to $85; Then they offered the coffee cup/saucer sets and Evlend coffee canisters as two separate stretch goals, and so I upped my pledge again to the $145 level. Then I wanted more coffee cups for my theater room, and I contacted them to see if I could purchase additional sets on the side. That one cost me, especially to ship all that from Japan, lol...
