Is it a full-length trailer? I heard that it was more like a teaser.

It was only about 42 seconds long but they showcase a lot in that small run time. As someone said uothread, I imagine it’ll look better in 3D.

the full teaser leaked yesterday as a camrip and is 1:39 long.
"... That's it?" may have been your response. mine was very different. it's a real showcase of how avatar is going to look like, it includes major spoilers for recurring characters and has an overall epic tone. it gives away a lot for a teaser.
super excited to watch it in 3d next week.
what did you expect?

I know it's become tradition to predict the demise of every new JC film, and I hate to be that guy but, as a JC fan, for the first time I feel this won't be the unmitigated triumph that the filmmakers think it will be. Success is relative and when you've grown accustomed to breaking every box office record with each new release, it's difficult to settle for anything less.

-The franchise has gone MIA for 10 years and although JC has done his best to explain why, it's still a problem.
-3D ticket sales have dwindled, though ticket prices have increased by 15% compared to 2010.
-Movie theater attendance hasn't completely returned to normal.

My guess is that Avatar: The Way of Water will gross significantly less domestically and will have to rely on foreign markets and especially the emerging Chinese market, which was practically non-existent back when Avatar was released. (Side note: I wonder whether having a mostly foreign audience can hurt merchandise sales).

It should surpass Spider-Man: No Way Home to become the 6th highest grossing film, but I don't think it will surpass $2 billion without a re-release. Each subsequent film's box office performance will depend on the audience score of the previous film, but all of them will be under $2 billion.

Maybe I'll revisit this post 9 months from now when we know more.

The teaser is on YouTube.

Search Avatar 2 trailer. Filter to "uploaded today".

The quality isn't worth posting to the forum in my opinion. I watched it cause, ya know, why not?

Off topic: Can someone tell me how to add a movie to my Blu-ray.com collection? I thought there'd be a button on a movie's page but I can't find any.

Click the film icon to the left of the heart icon on the left under the image/cover.

Search in the database for the movie you want to add.
Under the blu ray case there is an icon like a film reel.
If you click on that you can add the movie to whichever section you want.
You can create as many sections as you want.

How come, under "My collection", it says "Blu-ray (23)", when if I actually look at my collection, there are only 22 titles there so far?

@wonderer99: i don't even know what you're talking about.

@digitaldeluge24: having seen the teaser i'm pretty sure you're wrong lol. people won't believe it until they see it. but ultimately, for me as a fan, the box office doesn't matter. 13 years i was wondering if avatar 2-5 is really such a good idea and how cameron could possibly top himself. well, the teaser makes me confident that there's no need to worry whatsoever. i'm a believer. whatever happens box office wise, from a visual standpoint cameron already exceeded my expectations. and the story seems to be pretty interesting too. i'm sure it's going to be hyperreal cinema on steroids.

I think it might be counting each season of TV series individually.

I doubt that this will be as huge as the first film but I do think it will do very well.

The leaked teaser isn’t the best quality — but god damn — the music featured in it is incredibly ethereal, and I hope is a reflection of the score that will be used in the film itself. A stark contrast from the score used for the first film.

And, for those that remember, the first teaser for the first ‘Avatar’ film was intentionally leaving you feeling “that’s it?”

I, however, liked what I saw from the trailer a lot.

One thing I can already get out of the trailer is a sense of that wonderful James Cameron color-grading, his sense of scale, and just an all around breathtaking attempt at trying to transport audience members to another world.

I’m in based on this teaser.

Haven't seen the first one so I won't be seeing this in theaters. Will definitely get the physical release though, assuming they also release the first one on UHD.

The first one's getting a theatrical re-release in September.

Btw, why would you definitely purchase a sequel to a movie you've never watched in the 12+ years since it came out? Never bothering to watch the movie in all that time would seem to imply that you're simply just not interested in it.

I don't really seek out the original movies to newer movies that I am interested in. They're two different things for me and I can enjoy one thing without knowing anything about the other.

Avatar is one of the top ten Hollywood releases ever in China, and a surprise re-release there last year was number one for ten straight days. That said... China has major beef with Disney since then, the government banning all MCU films & the audience virtually ignoring those that did get a Chinese release, like Mulan. Since Disney now owns Avatar with the Fox takeover, it remains to be seen if the sequels will be approved for a release there.
