Eh, I'll bite if the music is anything like what they've used in this first teaser. I will happily nap my way through Aqua!Pandora if I also get some Moby ambiental to go with the visuals.

Also, I haven't been following the production of this film at all: is the young man with dreadlocks also a child of Jake's, but without an avatar? Or is it just questionable trailer editing, I wonder? The shots of him have me giggling. They're not even trying to hide the cross-marketing appeal. I'm dying for a Tarzan sequel now...

It seems Jake has two children, one of which is more human and the other more navi. Would be a bummer being the human one if you can't even breathe properly on your own planet.

There are four listed. They adopted a human child.

Oh so he is an adopted child? Interesting. I had assumed due to mix of human and navi dna that one blood child had turned out more human. Will be an interesting dynamic certainly and I'm looking forward to seeing how it all plays out.

however, here's the 3d trailer in FullSBS and SBS 2k:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1895...ew?usp=sharing

and here from the 3d dcp, a 12bit encoded hdr 3d version, frame sequential, 2k, for those with a dlp 3d projector at home:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bxg...ew?usp=sharing

tip: login to your google account to download if you can't get access.
As always: quick, before it's deleted.

Yeah the movie is called Avatar: The Way of Water, not Avatar: The Way of Wind.

Anyway, went to see Dr. Strange 2 3D, expecting Cinemark would show Avatar 2's trailer in 3D, and they show it in 2D. Not good.

The Avatar 2: Way of the Water Teaser trailer wasn't a trailer, but a vacation resort Advertisement. Not the way to hype the film up IMO.
Same here; except at Regal Dr Strange 3D showing only to have the teaser show in 2D; weak-sauce.

As a TEASER trailer though, I thought it's well done. Entice without giving much in the details relating to plot or what not. I find it refreshing to have a preview that doesn't give away the film in its entirety.

What human DNA? Jake's consciousness is in a Navi body.

I'm just amazed Sigourney Weaver & her scientists cooked up host bodies with fully functioning sex organs...

Only organs in the trailer that I noticed was in the music; church organs.

Isn't there a line in the first movie about the avatars: "grown from human dna, mixed with dna of the natives". Or something like that.

I wish the trailer would be released in HFR. I'd really like to see it in that format.

Robert Burnett said it looks amazing at 48FPS.

All I know is, I'm not betting against James Cameron. That teaser, IMO, was more than enough for me. I absolutely think the VFX look next-level -- and already serve as a refreshing reminder of how great an abundance of CGI can look when handled by a filmmaker that knows what he's doing.

Also, you can tell some of these renders aren't complete. It was the same way with the original Avatar's first teaser. Which again, to reiterate, was rather bad as far as trailers go. Hell, I remember people commenting on its original YouTube upload saying 'Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within' and even frigging 'Beowulf' had as good as CGI, if not better -- and, well, we all know how that went. The second trailer was much more refined, and really got people on board.

More than anything, even if the VFX don't look massively different from 13-years ago, at least the ecological system is there. At least there's real geometry and terrain. That's already a massive improvement over current blockbusters that just have barren wastelands (looking at you 'Shang-Chi') with little to no real ecology or any sense of habitat to them.

I at least believe in the concept and construct of Pandora.

Also, how many times are people gonna bet against James Cameron? A better question is, why? Why do they continue to do this? What people don't get about 'Avatar' is that it's not the brand name of Avatar itself that people like myself -- and many others -- are going to see it for. We're going because it's James god damn Cameron. He IS the brand.

I'm going to chuckle when this film inevitably hits between $1.8-2.5-billion at the box office. Because it's going to be the same process; Families are going to go see this film weekend after weekend, and it's going to be another technical achievement for Cameron that moves the needle forward yet again.

James Cameron is usually pretty good with sequels. Terminator 2 and Aliens.

I'll have to rewatch it soon. I believe they said Frog DNA, mixed with... Nevermind, that's Jurassic Park.
But seriously, I wonder how they were able to achieve the results they did. I know they had the Na'vi embryos growing in liquid tubes, rather than in the womb of a female Na'vi patient. I'll have to look for how they were able to manipulate the mind control via Virtual Reality.

You're right Levcore. Jake says "They grow from Human DNA, mixed with the DNA of the natives."

Not sure if it's been posted, but here's the full 4K IMAX with theatrical 5.1 mix.

A new Cameron movie feels like coming home, being in good caring thoughtful hands.
