Didn't Cameron say the sequal would not take place on Pandora.

Of course, it the sequel is good, I'll be eating it up.
I dont think we need a sequel. The movie was great from beginning to end. This movie is one of the best movies of the decade. James Cameron left another historic mark in movie making. The last thing Avatar needs in its legacy is Avatar 2.

Cameron's track record with sequals is strong (Terminator 2, Aliens) so if he wants to make one i'm not appossed to it and would deffinatly see it. Though I don't see a need for a sequal, I also don't know what Jim would be planning.

Good points with Terminator 2 and Aliens.
And maybe its just me enjoying this movie so much. This movie had everything. Seen the movie on Friday and till this day, me and the girlfriend are still taking about how good this movie is. I never shed tears in the theater but this one did it.

I guess I would see an Avatar 2 if its made but wow...i just dont know how its going to top the first one.

I do agree on everything you said and feel the exact same way (though I can't cry due to defunct tear ducts, but if I could i'm sure I would have been bawling during several scenes).

The first one just opened.

At least with the Spiderman, Iron Man and Transformers sequel threads you all waited a few weeks.

You guys are die hard true blue fans.
Talk of the sequel for this one started before the movie even came out

That's die hard fandom right there

December 2021, you were close

IF the sequel gets made, it possibly won't be for quite some time if Cameron does Battle Angel first. That one is expected for 2013. Unless Avatar gets fast tracked and Battle Angel gets put off.

Well, when you look how long it takes him, if he make's Battle Angel that will get the December 2021 that would mean the Avatar Two will have a release of December 2033 Be patient guys

Yay, I will be able to bring my kids to see it then.

And then my grand kids for part 3 after he makes Titanic 2 (Cameron's cryo-preserved head will direct those).

Thankfully as the main characters are navi know there is no rush as they wont age. The joys of motion capture.

I thought that too. Norm's avatar got killed, and Dr. Max Patel didn't even have his own avatar. What are they supposed to do with just gas masks on Pandora?

Norms avatar got shot which casued him to wake up, it's not made certain whether or not the avatar itself was dead.

So, "Avatar." Here is a story with an alleged anti-corporatist message, underwritten by a huge corporation to the tune of $250 million-plus. It preaches closeness with (outer-space) nature, but must have produced CO2 emissions at the rate of a dozen oil refineries. It alleges respect for women, who are shown to be uniformly, pornographically subservient to the alpha males. Its message is anti-violence, but it's also stuffed to the gills with the glorious super-lethal war machines from which toys and video games can and will be fashioned.

A sequel, huh?

I just read that the sequel might not take place on pandora. J.C said that pandora wasent the only moon orbiting that planet so there is a big hint.

You got it all wrong people. Here's a recent article about the sequels: http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/artic...18/story.jhtml

Quote:
"We'll follow Jake and Neytiri"
Quote:
"I have a trilogy-scaled arc of story right now, but I haven't really put any serious work into writing a script"
Quote:
The next two films, however, won't necessitate the four years of production time that "Avatar" took to perfect its motion-capture technology and computer-generated environments and beings.

I really don't think this needs a sequel(s), but what say do I have?

I'll see it/them either way.

Yeah one thing you can't deny about the film is that it has probably the best use of 3D ever.
