Can't even imagine how big the storage would have to be too download everything. I imagine the other point to doing this is to have the actual copy downloaded offline Incase anything happens to Apple and it they take certain movies down.

My iTunes downloads currently occupy a bit over 4TB (the lion's share TV seasons from season passes I have collected over time). No big deal for me since I have a big NAS.

That has never happened so far (except for some temporary glitches). I'm not concerned about that. I just find it practical to be able to stream locally as much as I want and quickly copy some TV seasons to my iPad before going on a trip. No better way to pass the time on an 11-hour flight to Europe.

Sweet, hope that means Tramp is coming soon. I bought the Lion King 3D Blu-ray for $60 on eBay a few months back, redeemed the XML, and sold the DMA for $30 and the Blu-ray for $30 and actually ended up making a buck or two. Definitely more fun just getting a code though.

Slightly off topic but I bought a How to Train Your Dragon 1 code and it redeemed in HD. It also has a second redeem through Fox Redeem for Vudu or Google Play.

The odd thing is that I redeemed the code directly through iTunes and it gave me an HD, not SD copy. Just throwing this out there if people are tempted to buy Part 1 from iTunes.

You can AirPlay without Internet as long as the source file is stored locally. You will need WiFi either through a local network or you can use Peer-to-peer Airplay if your hardware supports this. It requires Apple TV (3rd rev A) or later and a newer iOS device that supports Bluetooth LE.

I am happy to finally get the HD upgrade for this movie. Not a big fan of Adam Sandler, but there is some funny stuff in this movie.

I'm not sure what to do with Doctor Who Seasons 1-4. I'd like to own them, but they are SD only.

Season 1 was released on blu-ray last year, so maybe I should wait?

I don't think they'll release S1 on HD. there are blu rays of the seasons, so not sure why they wouldn't transfer those to HD on digital.

I remember picking up the Matt Smith collection for $19 for two full seasons. Those were some good deal days.

Seasons 1 to 4 are SD natively at 1.78:1, the Blu-rays are upscaled to 1080p. They even did this with the previous 1080i presentations, pushing them a bit to 1080p.

The IT Crowd is also native SD 1.78 for Seasons 1 to 4 while the series finale special was in HD.

$14.99 per season for SD just seems like a crappy deal...not sure what I'll do.

Those were shot by the BBC in 576.

The BluRays are 1080 upscales. But only season 1 is easily available on Blu in the US, since aside from an out-of-print box set seasons 2-4 haven't been released on Blu in the US. (You could import the UK BluRays of season 2, 3, and 4, but the special features are in PAL so don't count on being able to play anything but the the episodes. Or, you can indeed wait and hope that the rest will eventually be released on Blu in the US. That's my current plan).

The iTunes versions available in the US are 480 downscales. (Can someone confirm that these are 480 not 576 in the US iTunes store?)

I was under the impression that with blu ray, PAL and NTSC doesn't matter since it is HDMI/digital coding - am I wrong about that?
