It was also hard to find when I bought them so I leapt at getting them at a decent price. I have three sets total and opened one. It was also a nice investment if I wanted to sell one later on. And I was correct. I could sell one for a couple hundred at least. But I never sell, I only collect. I could sell but I figure, why? I'd rather have this amazing set than a couple hundred bucks that would simply go to the pockets of a car company screwing me over in interest payments on a car. Or it would go to the pockets of my internet company that has a monopoly on the service and overcharges by $100.

So, I'd rather just work and make some money to pay those price-gouging bills than give up a nice set I care about.

Well if the discs were so notorious for being scratched in the case, do you think anyone would want to risk actually paying premium for that kind of risk?

Before it went OOP...and after Amazon stopped selling it, I actually considered asking a friend to buy one for me locally, check the discs and then ship the lot to me with the discs in some empty keepcases you can buy for a few bucks, together with the tin itself.

I would be very happy!
Plus the cast commentary for part 3 they seem to keep forgetting about.

The new set will need to really bring it with the special features and basically something that is the fans have never seen before. Without that, I cannot see many dumping the tin for the new set. But if the flippers get caught because their tin goes down in value well then, oh well. Good on them.

I have the Tin and the Crystal Lake Memories sets so I really cannot see me upgrading.

And the thing about Shout Factory is that they do their own transfers. Even if it's the same or similar transfer, they encode it differently (or something is different about it). Just from previous comparisons, like the Halloween films, I know as a completionist, I wanted the non-Shout Factory transfers, like Universal's Halloween II and III, because they are of higher quality.

I sold my tin for over $300 when the 8 disc set came out. I don’t like any past part 6 anyway.

It wouldn't surprise me if the transfers would be the same as the 12-film set. If it's just a different encode, most people probably won't notice (for better or worse).

That’s some interesting logic there. You could still work to pay those bills AND sell both of the sealed sets and use the profits to buy the Shout Factory set and whatever is left over to buy other blurays. The set still has value according to recently completed sales on eBay but it absolutely will drop when Shout announces theirs.

I’m excited to see what Scream Factory does with this set. Unfortunately, I’m sure it will be stupid expensive. I already own the tin set and Crystal Lake Memories so, a double dip from me is highly unlikely. Still, it’s great news for those who slept on The Complete Collection from 2013.

I am happy with my 8-Film-Collection and the JGTH/Jason X double feature release. This new box set will only be special because of the unrated cut of JGTH.

exactly. a friday the 13th movie has to be pretty bad if it makes a lot of money and still doesn’t get an immediate sequel.

And since budget is low last time i heard, i don't know exactly how much they'll be putting on the set for newly produced features or if the budget changed which i hope it did. Crystal Lake Memories will be the bonus disc.
If this is true, the low budget would not allow the creation of a stereo 3D presentation. It would also mean using archival extras mostly with some new commentaries or interviews.

I lucked out a few months ago, I found a used copy for 49.99 at Amoeba records in Hollywood. it said it was missing the JGTH / Jason X disc and the bonus disc. but I took it to the counter asked if I could look through it and check the discs for scratches lo and behold both supposed missing discs were there. and I bought it. i am one of the few that really love the book style packaging of the set, but I had to sell the set a few years ago, and then right after was when it went out of print and the price skyrocketed. and I had been trying to get it again every sense

Unless they have partnered up on the costs with a certain 3Dfilm restoration group.

Has Shout/Scream Factory ever converted an old 3D film to modern 3DTV standards (basically restoring it to it's original 3D theatrical presentation) on bluray?
