Pumped to see a real announcement. Not thrilled with the jumping around of one film on a disc to double features for others but a minor complaint. I agree that the remake and "Freddy VS. Jason" really shouldn't be included here but alas not much can be done. I'm just happy we're seeing the original 10 altogether in one set

There was no need to include Freddy vs. Jason and the remake in my opinion. Would have preferred just a set of the original ten films but whatever, I'll still buy it.

I would wager that WB will eventually release these in their 4-pack sets like they've been doing with other releases...$20 each.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Paramount had the whole series ready to go for blu, but they chose not to release it. I'm guessing that WB will probably release part IV by itself, and the rest as double features (5/6, 7/8, Jason Goes to Hell/Jason X). Hopefully they don't wait a year to put them out, though.

One of the pieces of blu ray news I've been most antipating! Will be buying this day 1 and settling in for, not my first, F13 marathon.

I might just keep the Paramount versions of Parts 1-3...
Id like Jason Goes to Hell on its own...and I thought Parts 4-6 were meh and Jason X was a piece of ca-ca ...awful
(just my own opinion)

Awesome, although I was hoping they'd exclude Freddy Vs. Jason and the remake like A Nightmare on Elm Street set. This will the first time owning/watching most of these movies, so I'm excited for this set. Hopefully the price will come down (although the SRP isn't too bad)

Awesome set

I could of done without the remake and Freddy vs Jason ( I own them separately) However I can't complain because they made sure the set was complete. Hopefully I can trade or sell those two.

I'll wait for the eventual individual releases of the discs I don't have. I'm not going to rebuy 5 discs.

Okay, THIS news, along with the news of the double Blu-ray set of the Crystal Lake Memories documentary makes 2013 the greatest year that has ever happened to Friday the 13th fans!

I don't see why people are complaining about Freddy vs. Jason and the remake being in the set. Are they not part of the franchise? Just be happy the Friday the 13th series is finally getting the respect it deserves.

My only true concern at this point is how the discs are going to be packaged. I DO NOT want them in cardboard pages. I want them protected. I am not really fond of the discs being on top of one another like in the Dark Knight Trilogy box set either. I like the way the discs were set in the Nightmare on Elm Street box set. I hope they do it THAT way.

Agree with everything you said there mate.It would be great if Paramount would announce a new film before the end of the year as well to top it off.

I'll hold out for a single release of The Final Chapter.

My biggest concern with this set is that WB will just half-ass the PQ and AQ.

From the looks of it, the special features are recycled from the previous releases which I am not really surprised about, but what this set needs to have is the be-all-to-end-all look and sound that this series deserves. I am not really concerned with having "uncut" versions of these films, I just want excellent picture and audio quality.

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) NEW TO BLU-RAY
Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning (1985) / Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives (1986) NEW TO BLU-RAY
Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988) / Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989) NEW TO BLU- RAY
Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993) / Jason X (2002) NEW TO BLU-RAY

I bet these get standalone releases since they are double billed on one disc. The Final Chapter being a solo disc obviously. According to the OP parts 1-3 are single discs as well as FvJ and the 2009 remake. Which are just the same discs repackaged in this set. Much like they did with the Elm Street collection. Either way this is going to be a big seller come fall, but for those of us who already own 1-3, FvJ and the '09 version it's kinda of a ripoff to have to get all of them over again. Plus a DVD of extra's.

I'm gutted that these don't have individual releases and as I never cared for Freddy vs Jason which I found pretty bad and the less said about the remake the better, it would bug me having films I don't want in the collection.

Whether or not I this will depend on the packaging for me as if the set comes with some cardboard type holder then I'll wait (and hope) for individual releases as I only want 4-8 plus Jason GTH and Jason X

I'm likely going to be sacrificing a slot in the set for the upcoming 7 hour documentary, probably the "Killer extras" DVD. I'm sure the series will be definitively covered in that doc so I won't need a recycled disc. Otherwise this looks like it'll be a good set. BTW, I hope this tin comes with a labeled spine unlike their Mad Max trilogy.
